LinkIt's a ton of fun and it's free. Put "Madk" in the referral box when you register to make the game a bit more enjoyable for me. Sort-of official trailer

Subvein is indeed superb. Though, I am not too fond of the permanently allocated skill points with hardly a way to change them, and I also don't think highly of the new reference system to create viral marketing. Either way, Subvein is great fun and the only top-down shooter I know that actually pulls off the "pseudo"-3D gameplay well.

GTA 2 has internet multiplayer you donk. I don't think we're talking about the same GTA2. The PS1 is incapable of internet access.

GTA 2 has internet multiplayer you donk. I don't think we're talking about the same GTA2. The PS1 is incapable of internet access. GTA 2 was released on the PC alongside the PSX version. Rockstar has it available on Steam, and also has it available FOR FREE on their website. That being said, Subvein is rad as fuck.

I've never understood the appeal of top down multiplayer shooters. With only two dimensions aiming is trivial, firing from behind cover is impossible, and with line of sight around corners maneuvering and reloading/grenading from behind cover is no longer a factor.

It's funny, you mention exactly what Subvein does better in those regards You can fire up and down, as the maps are three dimensional and you aim where the crosshair is. Also, depending on the height of an obstacle you can or can't see around it. For example you are able to see enemies behind some crates that you still can't shoot over, but you won't be able to see over or around an actual wall. So, positioning yourself right is at least similarly important and diverse as in first-person shooters.

It honestly doesn't get much more active. That's still a good game worth of players, though.

It's still pretty new/in development so it hasn't got much coverage yet. It's constantly updated and growing day by day, so hopefully it'll take off soon. Still plenty of fun to be had, just have to login when there's a server running.
