Hey EggRogue,

I only played for 15 minutes, as I'm about to get some zzzZZZ Smiley

I didn't get past stage one sector one. After I completed my objectives (kill some ships and get some powerups) I didn't know what to do. I flew around aimlessly shooting asteroids and calling reinforcements. It's probably just me being a total nub.

Are there other weapon types later in the game? Like lasers that shoot further? I liked the different firing modes.

I used the default keyboard layout (support for a gamepad would be awesome). I found that if I thrusted with 'W' shot with 'I' I was about unable to turn right with 'D'. Left with 'A' worked. This does not happen if I shoot with 'T'.

I could throw some suggestions for the things you brought up, but since I didn't really get anywhere, I don't think I'm in a good position to do so.

Hey Bino,

I guess it's not made clear in the game, when the objective says "Boost towards nav pointer to proceed" you simply point your ship towards the large golden triangle pointer on the edge of your screen and double tap the thrust button. Once you've done that autopilot will engage and you'll be taken to the next sector.

EDIT: I have now added in a "helper" ship in Stage 1. He will spawn and give you instructions on what to do.

There aren't exactly different weapon types, but there are a host of possible upgrades for your weapons, such as increased range, speed, rate of fire, damage, etc. You will see the upgrade screen at the end of each stage.

It is also possible to increase the number of blasters you have, up to a maximum of 6. Combining additional blasters with the various blaster upgrades gives significant variety to the weapons.

Default keyboard layout is the classic WASD for movement, and TYU for fire, launch and special. I haven't had any keyboard conflicts with this, I can freely turn, thrust, shoot, etc. all at the same time. However, all controls are completely customisable - just hit ESC to bring up the menu, choose Options, then Controls and away you go.

Thanks for your feedback, hope this helps Smiley

Just wondering.... who is getting a high score but not entering their name? I keep having these blank high scores showing on the website. Should I make the "enter your name" prompt more prominent?

Also @Bino - did you manage to try the new version? Was it more accessible?

Have people enter their name once, before starting, or have it set up like profiles, and then store that so that they don't have to enter their name every time.

I definitely like the game so far, the graphics style reminds me of gratuitous space battles.

The shields seem pretty weak in a way, is that intentional? I didn't get very far either, because it's possible to die rather quickly...

Hi Toe, glad you like it!

The shields are not intentionally designed to be weak, they start off able to sustain 5 points of damage (which may not seem like much) and recharge over time of course.

There are replenishment pickups (blue canisters) from defeated enemies that will immediately restore 1 shield point.

There are blue powerups from large chunks (looks like a sparkly blue triangle) that when you collect six of your shields will be permanently increased by 1 point. There is no upper limit to shield strength, so over the course of the game they should go up significantly.

Furthermore there a number of upgrade options (when you reach end of stage) to improve and enhance your shields, such as:

# Replenishment - faster recharge.
# Deflection - blaster bolts can bounce off entirely.
# Absorption - energy from blaster bolts can be used to actually recharge shields.

And then there are a bunch of other defensive upgrades that will prolong your life in general.

You can always try the game on easy mode first to get the hang of it - enemies will die quicker and you will have more lives.

Finally, despite all that, I am tweaking and fine-tuning the game, and amongst those adjustments is the overall difficulty level - it is being reduced.

Thanks for your feedback!

Yeah, once you get the recharge upgrade the shields are actually quite good for regular stuff, but it's still really easy to die incredibly fast. When I first found out missiles meant instant death for example, or losing all your speed from crashing into a rock while trying to dodge.

I think part of it is the way shield recharge scales with how much shield you have left. If you have none it seems to take much longer.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get better as I play it more Smiley

Missiles aren't hard coded to cause instant death, but yes, they do deal a lot of damage. By a few stages time it's possible to have enough hull and shield strength to survive a hit. The absorption upgrade will also mitigate missile damage. There's also a new upgrade coming soon called Hardening which will give you resistance to shrapnel (the exploding fragments from a missile or ship blowing up).

About the shield recharge scaling, you've noticed correctly, and this is how it works: Your recharge is at a constant rate as long as you have shields left. If your shields are taken down completely that first shield point will take 5 times as long to recover. Once your shields are up again, they revert to normal recharge rate.

So yeah, if your shields go down, it's quite beneficial to grab a blue canister - gives you 1 shield point instantly and your shield recharge will be back to normal again.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm absolutely willing to concede the game difficulty needs to be adjusted and that is what I'm doing currently.

Very addictive and fun.  I was having a hard time controlling the ship (I was overaccelerating, I think).  By level 2, I felt I had much more control.  The "special effects" really help make the game!

Fantastic! I'm really pleased to hear it Smiley

P.S. Remember you can brake as well as thrust Smiley
