-- ah, San Mateo's pretty far! Perhaps if this happens multiple times, we should meet in SF some of the times? I'm also from San Mateo so I'd probably be able to make it to SF a bit more easily ^_^

Just stumbled across this thread... This sounds cool, I'd like to meet other game devs around here as well. (I live in Oakland/Emeryville) Just set a place and time, I'm there! (weekends work esp. well for me too)

it would be neat if this could be a...repeated thing...

Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about restaurants, especially since I've worked in them before. Typically, servers don't like people hanging around for long after they've eaten. It's actually considered rude to the business. Also, restaurants can get crowded, noisy, and not really set a creative tone. I'm not sure what kind of meetup you have in mind, but I think a cafe/coffeeshop/bar would be a lot more laid back and we definitely wouldn't be imposing by hanging out there for as long as we wanted. Restaurants are typically: get in for 15 minutes, eat, talk for 5 minutes, get out, and the staff will usually see to that.

agreed. restaurants feel awkward. but I leave the location to the mercy of people who know the mission well.

Just finding this thread. I'm also down in San Mateo I'll be at TIGJam with my dev-team -- I'll also be leaving for IndieCade tomorrow evening if anyone wants to meet up there as well. Anyways, I often play board games at Ritual on Valencia. Really good coffee shop with lots of tables, and they're open til' 10pm most nights... http://ritualroasters.com/locations.htmlHow's that for a spot? Chris

Nice, Ritual looks pretty good! And looks pretty close to BART too ... I think that one could work Super-tentative plan so far: October 23? In the afternoon, like maybe 2pm ish?? At Ritual coffee in SF?

I was going to complain about how it conflicts with this but actually it might integrate conveniently. And even if it doesn't I can still attend the other thing on Sunday. So great!

Cool, Ritual it is. If anyone wants, I can bring some board games (Dominion, Caylus, Stone Age, etc.). I may show up early to snag the big table -- it's an SF coffee shop, so as you'd expect, the place can get crowded on weekends. Chris

Ritual was the first place to come to mind, but I have to warn you of two things: 1) It is a very popular, crowded cafe. Hip cafe in hip part of town. Space for even small crowds can be tough at peak times. 2) Due to people coming in just to hang out and use power and wifi (not buying coffee), I think they have plugged up the outlets on the walls. That may only be on certain days, though.
Also, their latest seasonal espresso is called Double Rainbow. Yes, it is so bright and vivid.
