Saw it on Gamasutra this morning:  http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/30754/Katamari_Damacy_Creator_Announces_New_Company_Uvula.php

His homepage is www.uvula.jp.

I'm excited for this - Takahashi is one of the most creative people in the industry.  I wonder what he and his wife will make.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Go Takahashi!

Also, every PS3 owner needs a copy Noby Noby Boy.

When I first heard this news, I got confused and thought Kitano Takeshi had started a game company.

This is cool too though!

That's great news!  I'm sure they'll be able to come up with some really creative projects.  My boyfriend and I are also a game designer-composer couple, so I've always thought that he and his wife were cool Tongue

Keita is my hero. Hopefully whatever he creates will be met with great success. (or, at least the brand of success that he is aiming for.) I'm happy to see that he collaborates with his wife, too. That's living the dream. :D

Katamari is one of my all time favorite series. I love trying to explain it to people, because it sounds dumb, "roll up everything you see, and you get bigger.. thats it. Thats the game!" But Keita's designs about how the world should feel makes the whole thing come together. The Katamari OST's are all great, super fun and make me smile. Hopefully his new studio helps him make some more awesome games, I want a transforming table simulator game!

What I've always loved about Katamari (and Noby Noby Boy, which is even more extreme in that respect) is how unashamedly demented it is. It's fun for fun's sake, a lost art in a time where every other game tries to be "meaningful" or "mature" or some shit.

Yes, and I love the way he'll throw tons of resources at something purely because it's fun or appealing- like the floppy noodle physics in Noby Noby Boy. That kind of design is really fun to see.

Here's looking forward to the company's first release!
