It's a good thing that Paul Eres started this poll fad. that said there should be little polls within polls for added accuracy.
I approve, Eres, that's a fantastic idea.

Strange poll, is the closest fit for 5 days a week "every day" or "couple of days a week"? Anyway, when I actually get to work on games instead of my game development uni course I work on them quite a lot. Yeah, funny how the uni course doesn't involve that much game development.

Every day = 100% of the time 5 days a week = 71.42% of the time A couple of days a week = 28.57% of the time Every day is closer.

100+ hours a week.
I'm not joking.
And yes I do put a lot of chemicals in body.
I don't sleep much either. In fact I don't sleep at all at least one night a week.

i'm not, the game comes first, above everything. that's the true indie spirit, to die for one's game
but right now i'm only working on my game about 5 hours a day, 7 days a week (35 hours). i hope to improve that though

With that work schedule, no wonder you've got so much gunk in your keyboard.

And yes I do put a lot of chemicals in body. That's really fucking admirable -- I wish I had the dedication to work on something, anything, that intensely. However, I'd be careful with whatever chemicals you're putting in your body. From personal experience, amphetamines are fucking terrible. /end preaching I'm no dev, but I work a good 5-10 hours on music per week. When I get especially inspired this can spike up to 20 hours, but work and other commitments don't give me that much time. I can't fucking write anything game-related lately, it's some mental block that I can't shake off.

I try to put in a bit of work every day if I'm at home or not on vacation. The amount of time I put in varies, though. Sometimes all day, sometimes just an hour or two.

I spend 40 hours a week in my day job as a games programmer.
Outside of that I've taken to working on my own stuff on the train to work and back (2 half hour sessions). It's interesting fitting useful work into that short timespan but it seems to work quite well for me. I'll usually break down tasks into meaningful chunks and aim to fit one such task into each journey. In addition to that I'll also usually spend 2 to 5 hours working on my own games at home at least a few days a week, usually more.

At first I read that as "100+ hours a day" and was like, man, you must be putting some serious chemicals in your body. Basically my only creative outlet lately is playing the guitar but on the plus side I'm getting better. School is so draining.

hours per day is hard to measure too. do you count snack breaks? bathroom breaks? getting up to get a cup of tea? i sit to work on my game 8+ hours a day, but probably only 5 or less of those hours is actual work.
