I don't know why, but I'm always interested in reading video game articles written for publications that are typically not video game centric.  As far as I know, those types of articles are relatively uncommon.  I thought it'd be interesting to compile a list of these articles we stumble across... it'd be helpful to those of you who are students and want to write papers on video games, at least.  If you guys come across any articles, please post them here and I'll incorporate them into the main post! (Bonus points if they are indie game related)

The Guardian
Indie Games Section   Cave Story

McSweeney's
An Open Letter to the Occupants of a House on the Nintendo Game "Paperboy."  Leon Ferri, Dec. 12 2005
Bo Jackson Announces His Intention to Rush for Over 500 Yards in a Single Game in Tecmo Bowl for Nintendo.  Rick Stoekel.  June 5 2007

n+1
Cave Painting: Video Games as Art.  The Editors,  April 23 2010
Dismissives: Two Angry Letters. (letter in response to "Cave Painting") Tom Bissell, May 11 2010.
Purpose-Driven Life.  Gabriel Winslow-Yost,  Oct. 6 2010   Cave Story

NPR
Computer Game A Mash-Up Of Crayons, Physics. (Petri Purho Interview)  Jan. 9 2009   Cave Story

Wall Street Journal
Terry Cavanaugh Interview. Jamin Brophy-Warren,  Jan. 27 2010   Cave Story

The Walrus
Craftwerk (Minecraft).  David Rsak.  Oct. 20 2010  Cave Story

note:  Some of these articles may be offensive to our pro-video game sentiments.  Please do not discuss 'the art question' here.

I think you find it interesting because it's interesting to see what a non-gamer thinks of video games. You're also just waiting for them to say something terribly inaccurate.

The guardian (uk newspaper) quite regularly has articles about games, including (I think) one about indie games a little while back, I'll see if I can dig it up.

They have a whole section on indie games here, though it was last updated in April so I don't know if it's dead.

I sort of enjoyed that n+1 article, though it was a bit rambling and quite centered on mainstream titles.

Thanks for the articles guys.  I added Quote to the indie centric articles.

About the SVU: I'm sure there could be a whole nother thread for how gamers are portrayed in various shows/movies.
