from the picture(s) I have seen of Scrolls, the setting doesn't look very original if at all.
Give your game a lot of personality and it should be okay.

Any idea I come up with I lack the ability to make, and those seem to be the only interesting projects

OK maybe "almost the exact same" was an overstatement. From what I gathered Scrolls is basically Heroes of Might and Magic + trading card game. My game is a combination of deckbuilding games like Dominion, Thunderstone etc. and Fire Emblem/Advance Wars/HoMM with procedurally generated cards (for extra indie cred Wink). But it's still close enough to be seen as a "ripoff" I guess.

Pretty much my thoughts to, you should make it please.  All though i'd be a bit worried about procedurally generated cards in a game like dominion.  Seems way to hard to balance and create interesting cards at the same time.

i'm still experimenting with generating cards right now but i'm trying to make it as balanced as i can. using a simple cost-based algorithm at the moment. the idea is to expand on the variety of playing with different sets of cards in dominion. also each card functions as both an action card and a potential unit on the battlefield.

btw this isn't supposed to be an "official announcement" or w/e, the project is on the backburner at the moment thanks to technological circumstances (on a macbook and too lazy to boot into windows lol) and it's in a VERY early pre-pre-alpha state.

I miss hamletz. Sad

RIP Hamletz, true American hero. The Japanese threat has taken over the land of the free, and what was once a shining white beacon of hope is now a pitch dark portal to hell on earth, sucking in all light and happiness which enters into it. Will Barack Obama prevail, striking the invaders with his fist of liberty before they can even fire a projectile at him, or will he be consigned to a footnote in the annals of history, destined to be remembered as the man who failed to stop the subjugation of his people? Only time will tell.

Also, procrastination. I'm procrastinating right now writing dumb posts instead of working on things I have to work on. Help me.

Obama is very clear about what he stands for and believes. Don't give in to Republican talking head bullshit.
