I'm all about fireworks. It's fantastic for aliased vectors!

Lordy Sereneworx, I thought Promotion was expensive!  I'll have to download the Fireworks demo.  I haven't seen it in action in about ten years.

I personally use a horrible hybrid combination of Promotion, Game Maker ( export sprites as strips for use in flash games ), and the GIMP.

I just draw up the sprite sheets in Paint Shop Pro 7 or GIMP and then deal with the animation inside the code. Normally I'll create an "Animated Sprite" class which deals with slotting together animations, or I'll be using a framework that deals well with sprite sheets (e.g. FlashPunk).

I use Sprite Something which is crap because of no color palette, it's click, slide, click draw

Would I be crazy enough to fire up deluxe paint on an Amiga emulator...

I alternate between D-Pixel, PyxelEdit, and the GIMP, although I've actually started fiddling around with Pixothello, Graf2x & Graphics Gale lately.

Funny how much I see Paint Shop Pro in this thread.

I'm still on Paint Shop Pro 7, even since 2001. I very rarely reach its limits.

Some of the features are outdated, but they don't really get in the way of the core functionality.

And it's still fine for GIFs. It has a decent size optimizer too.

Man, this thread is old.
I use PSP7 too. It handles pixel art pretty well, and it's alright for other stuff too (though I often find myself switching to Photoshop for more complicated high-res stuff).
