Congrats on your Replay software, looks like a lot of people found it handy.

I'm not sure those numbers on their own without context are massively helpful, but definitely nice job there.

More useful might be: graphs of sales over time; information about where and how you were selling them; how did you market them? What was the feedback to the games themselves like?

Quote
Remember that the fullversions of Absolute Blue and Psychoballs are available for free since around one year: So no sales during the last year.

What about Tangram? That game seems to be free as well? And where's the Replay thing? I'm afraid I have to agree with Draknek: Without any context, those numbers are pretty much meaningless.

Replay isn't a game, it's an app that searches for online radio stations, plays them and lets you rip the songs as MP3s.

I'm curious as to how much of that €31,964.60 was made from games and how much from selling tools for pirates.

afaik at least in germany web radio recording (even automated) for private purposes is totally legal. (see http://www.chip.de/artikel/Ratgeber-Privatkopie-Filesharing-Web-Mitschnitte-3_30147840.html)

@JoeManaco: i read on your blog that you work @ gameforge. what is their policy regarding game development at home for your own label?

Thank you for your responses. I edited my blog post and tried to answer all questions there. It was easier this way, because in the IndieGamerForum there were some similar questions. I hope this is fine with the board rules.

Yes, Replay was no game. It was a MP3-Player / Shoutcast Stream Recorder - and yes it was totally legal.

@Chromanoid: Oh, it depends. Of course I'm not allowed to compete in their market (browser based mmo games). How do you know from gameforge? Do you know our games? It's really a great place to work!

How is your revenue from portals when  compared with your direct selling? this is important.
Even if you can't release the real number, is it several times the direct revenue or is it less?

The portal sales were serveral times higher. Especially in the first few weeks when they released it. The first week of Temple of Tangram at Big Fish Games was very nice, while Absolute Blue got a some nice sales from Reflexive Arcade.

i totally believe this Smiley. i am from germany and i visited "making games talents" (a game career fair) once. there some guys from gameforge told about a corporate sponsored plane trip for all employees... afaik gameforge is rated as one of the best employers of german medium-sized businesses (http://www.topjob.de/top-arbeitgeber/uebersicht/gameforge-ag-.html?p=1) Smiley.
if i would live next to karlsruhe i would try to get a job at gameforge after university Smiley - probably i will live in hamburg (girlfriend and so Smiley.

@Chromanoid: Yes, we were in Andalucia in Spain in a Robinson Club. That was great fun. We have also a studio in Hamburg: Ticking Bomb Games. They are great guys and they made the browser game of "Die Gilde". Try it there Wink

Thanx for sharing I really appreciate when people dare to share their sales stats.

I'm trying to take a stab at the silverlight cake and have started with just plain ads but hopefully I will be able to try the WP market and if possible Xbox.

I will share my stats too but will wait until we've been online for 3 months. So far the result is better than expected but still nowhere near your figures Smiley

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
