That's why I asked what the point of the post was. It just seemed to state something that everybody already knows and agrees upon: The game is a sandbox game and still being developed. Your point seemed to be that it wasn't a good game because of those factors.

Seemed to me it was a guy stating his opinion. I don't see anything wrong with that, and saw nothing wrong with Pixelthief's post. The consolidation of ranks that followed is admirable but questionable.

Is Minecraft great? That's subjective, although in my humble opinion the popularity is not a fluke but well-deserved. But why is it suddenly wrong and pointless to point out an opinion - which happens to be that it doesn't have an overarching storyline and that it could use some improvement?

I myself like it when games leave it up to the player to make up their own story. Some people might not.

Did I say anything was wrong with it? I asked what the point of the post was. Not in a "what a worthless post" kinda way, but in a "what point are you arguing?" kind of way. I guess I wrongly assumed that there was a point, beyond just stating an opinion. The references to gaming theory led me to believe that it wasn't just stating a personal opinion, but trying to argue that the game was overrated.

I didn't read your post as advice or explaining concepts. I read it as another rant against Minecraft's success, since that's what started this thread in the first place. I read wrong, I guess.
