maybe it'd work if we disabled comments on the frontpage for those particular posts, and said 'if you want to say something about these games and give them feedback, sign up for the forums, but we don't want any frontpage hate'

Why not have a section of the forum for news posts, and have a topic for each news post linked to the comments on the front page? Also, if there's an interesting discussion on a front page topic then it won't fade away like it would in the blog format.

I do think removing the comments from the frontpage and adding a "comments" link to a thread in the forums would help keeping away some more retards though. I'm not sure how much things changed since the new comment system, has the overall situation improved?

it's not that bad. just ignore anything you consider to be posted by 'retards'. i'm sure most people do.
if nobody takes them seriously, they're not a problem, eh... remove the comments from the frontpage, and you're letting them win.

If it's the way it was ~1 year ago, it's hardly something to ignore. I just don't see the frontpage comments serving a purpose right now.

this discussion belongs to the TIGProvement topic.

aanyway. i had picked some games from forums for the reports (though paul linked to game pages rather that forum topics where possible), and was sending links to paul in october and november, but stopped following tigforums recently (partly because i didn't see progress from paul, partly because i got tired of sifting through crap)

re: barriers to posting guest articles: my mother tongue is russian, i know that my english isn't perfect so i just asked hempuli to proofread and spellcheck my posts and they turned out decent
