I have a friend (an experienced audio guy) who was interested in the jam. I don't want to seem like a mad ticket-grabbing vulture, but if any become available again, he seemed very keen to buy a ticket. I'll keep an eye out on eventbrite too.

Just send a message before if you're thinking of heading so we can be sure that we'll hang about

Oooh, only a week or so to go now

Couple of practical/boring questions from a noob for the TigJam/CB2 regulars...

- Do I need to bring an extension lead/4-way? (Only got great big things with long cables, and I'm aiming to travel light)

- Which network is most likely to get a usable 3G signal? 3 or O2?

- Security - we're all bringing laptops'n'stuff - have there been any problems with gear 'disappearing', I'd like to hope that we're all a trustworthy bunch - does everyone generally do a good job of looking after each other's stuff? (Are laptop locks and stuff unnecessary, or worthwhile?)

Any other essentials that a first-timer may forget to bring along? My current list includes:

- Laptop, well prepared with *everything* installed (Including documentation etc, in case internet access isn't too good)
- Some sort of base code/framework or very-rapid-development-environment for 3hr jams*
- Mouse, Memory stick, Headphones
- Mobile Broadband dongle
- Notepad+Pen
- Food/Coffee/Beer money

Or what about things that are essential to leave at home? (big speakers, huge monitors, etc... - looks like space is going to be fairly tight? - I guess I'll leave my Wacom at home, but hoping there's just enough space for a mouse, as I can't stand my laptop touchpad...)

Power 4-way is not essential but extras are always useful with the amount of people who'll be there. I'm taking one and hoping a bunch of people will be.

I don't know about Three but I've never had any problem using my O2 iPhone there or my T-Mobile broadband stick. (The latter being essential as once the jam begins I suspect we'll crash the bistro's internet as per usual)

In terms of security there's never been any issues afaik. I'd expect you'd be with your laptop most of the time, and when I've gone out to grab a snack or something there's little chance of someone walking off with your stuff. If you're worried you could just throw it in a bag and take it with you.

In terms of table space usually there's enough to accomodate your laptop and mouse, I think a lot of people use a mouse when working I know i do. I've also seen Wacom's around but space for one might be a bit of luxury.

If you have one and can bring it along, that's cool, but we can probably accommodate

Terry confirms that O2 works ok.  Perrin uses 3 and says it's ok.  So I'd say either's good.

There haven't been any problems in previous years, and I'd be surprised if there were this year.  However, I can't take responsibility for what terrible things might happen to your belongings.

Yeah that's a very good idea.

You can probably find place for your wacom if you want, but I'd leave other peripherals

Would that be too much? I would gladly let people borrow it during the jam so Im hoping it could be viewed  kinda as an asset for the benefit of all jammers.
Hmm... thinking over this again I guess im better of buying a more portable one.


And also because of the risk of getting lost in a foreign and frightening country ( ), I want to ask if someone would volonteer with their phone number and be ready to provide some navigatioal support if needed.

Yep of course, I'll email around a phone number some time within the next week (once I find my phone...).
