Conversely, when a series need to die. i.e. Spongebob Squarepants
You aren't down with Spongebob because you never heard the back-masked messages telling you to go to Jesus Camp and accept the Lord whilst going through withdrawal after staying up for seventy two hours trying to balance amphetamines against barbiturates. They come right after the messages that order you to kill so stick around to make sure that you don't miss 'em. More than anything it's disappointing that they removed them. Sellouts.

Thanks, I just spent about 10 minutes trying to find any back-masking like that in SpongeBob.

For me the biggest disappointment in gaming would be Super Smash Brothers: Brawl.
I didn't like how floaty the controls felt, the B moves felt much more weak than before, and a good many of the features felt unfinished and unpolished.

I was precisely going to make a thread about that. I didn't like how floaty the controls felt I don't mind them, Sakurai wanted to make the combat more 'aerial'. It's also way slower than Melee, but not that much slower compared to SSB64. I like it, personally. the B moves felt much more weak than before You can't really generalize like that. B moves don't have a fixed 'strenght', they vary wildly from move to move, character to character. And it's always been like that. Unless your main character got particularly nerfed, like Samus. and a good many of the features felt unfinished and unpolished. I really don't know what those features are, but it may be just me.

Yeah Brawl. My parents gave me a choice between the 3 consoles for my birthday, and I wanted the Wii JUST for Brawl. You couldn't pay me to play that game now.
Cortex Command Build 24 is a very recent disappointment to me.

I was disappointed with Zelda: Wind Waker. I remember loving the difficulty of the N64 games and being very annoyed when WW seemed like a dumbed-down version of them. Looking back on it, though, I really love it. Aesthetically it's gorgeous, and it's one of few games where I'm aware of how awesome the sound effects are. They have such a lovely warmth and charm to them.

Okami's complete lack of challenge. It's a gorgeous game bursting at the seams with charm, but combat is just so mindless. Everything is so easy. I honestly didn't play all the way to the end, and I hear some of the later bosses can be brutal, but considering the game's hella long I still played a lot of it and very rarely had trouble during combat.

I played Okami for twelve hours, didn't die once, and subsequently gave up on it. It sure was purdy, though.
I didn't like Brawl either. If they updated Melee for the Wii with new stages/characters but retained the engine I would play the hell out of that.
Movies in general haven't interested me since I was 16. I'll watch them occassionaly, sure, but only to kill time. I really want to see Inception, though.
Not having a movie theatre in my small village also disappoints me.
Honestly, 3D Zelda games all disappointed me. I hear Majora's Mask is a treat and I haven't really given it a proper chance yet, but Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time didn't engage me all too much.
Last night I was reading Tim Roger's latest Kotaku article where he discussed the turning around animation, and how most games suck at implementing it. This made me think of Super Mario 64, so I hooked up my N64 and made a new file. I threw on some Guitar Wolf to set the mood and hopped around the opening area. It was the highlight of my day (which consisted of dealing with the most unruly middle schoolers ever (screw middle school)). I made my way into the castle, jumped into the first level, and wantonly bounded about. I eventually made my way to the top of the mountain, but as soon as I started talking to the boss my Nintendo 64 decided to finally short out. I turned off my music and stared at the screen for a whole minute. Call me a pussy, but I damn near teared up. I turned my once favorite system off, downed half a bottle of Nyquil, and called it a day.

I'd barely played either until recently (in the dorms here, some guys down the hall have a Wii...), and I honestly can't tell the difference between the two... but then I totally suck at both sooooooo...

I know how you feel bro. When my SNES that I had had for 10-some years quit a few years back, I did nearly the same thing.

When that happened to my PS2, I yelled at it and called it a worthless piece of shit that would never be anything.
It asploded just as I started up Shadow of the Colossus.
