due to the fact that there is no thread on the forums about project wonderful i thought i create one.
i think this service is pretty useful and affordable for advertising your games.


basically you create an ad (banner, button etc) and choose a site where you would like to see your ad. if you are the highest bidder it will be displayed on this very site...and you only have to pay per day.
you neither pay per click (ppc) nor for impressions (cpm).

this fact makes the whole thing pretty accessible and affordable.
i havent used it yet by myself but i have seen it already on a few sites.
for example on bytejacker.
one day of advertising on their site costs currently 2-3 cent.


you can search the publishers by

• traffic (amount of visitors)
• bidding (price)
• sizes and categories (for example: games and gaming)
• site description (url / site name)
• ...

play this thing! (profile on project wonderful)

pig-min - post indie gaming   (project wonderful profile)

You're never charged for clicks or displays. Instead, name your price for a day's worth of advertising, when you're the high bidder, your ad is displayed! You can alter or cancel your bids in real time, and even advertise for free.

I think I somehow get spam to my email from putting my ad in one of the websites there. :/
Edit: I have put my ad on byte jacker, I had like a 1000 impressions and 3 clicks. Not sure how effective that is, although it cost me very little.

Pompi that is about right.

I never did it myself, but from what I've read you usually get up to 1% of clicks.

Of all visitors of your site from those click, usually also up to 10% buy something.

Yes, the click through is abysmal. The better % is around 0.5, and most are around 0.1.
The bright side is that the most number of clicks have come from some random Japanese porn blog that I have bookmarked now for *ahem* research purposes.

I used to use this back when I had a webcomic, and it worked pretty nicely.  I've been meaning to try it again for games.  Setting up an ad now.

PW is amazing if you're willing to spend the time to micromanage your ads and bids. So it's really for 2 types of advertisers:

1) The one with little/no budget who wants to spend a few bucks and get some exposure.
2) Big advertisers who would micromanage bids and ads full-time

I've used Project Wonderful quite extensively, it's a cheap way to dabble in advertising.

Here's some stats for a current campaign I have running with a box ad:

By comparison, my Adwords campaign has a CPC of around $0.08 -- you need to be willing to micromanage your bids to cancel the "bad" ones to get the most out of PW though.

I used this before as well back when I had my comics/artworks site a couple of years ago. I didn't manage it that much which is why I didn't see enough clicks. After a few weeks, I gave up on it. Clearly it wasn't for me.

Thanks for the post. I will definitely be using Project Wonderful to sell my game. It's true what everyone is saying about the micromanaging. However, the cost alone is worth it. It's cost/day rather than cost/click. CDP is a huge savings compared to CPC models. After looking at sites and their unique users/day I found some great gem sites through which I plan to advertise on. Thanks again.

- Pig-Min(http://www.pig-min.com/tt) is for Korean local people.

Even if I have English branch(http://www.pig-min.com/en), most of pageviews comes from Korea. So if you'd use Project Wonderful at Pig-Min, try 'Elsewhere'. Anyway if you bid all 4 regions, thanks.


- Pig-Min has 4 project wonderful banners.

As you can see, Top Banner is most expensive. Not sure exactly, however Square banners are cheaper than big banners. Maybe due to size.


- Pig-Min has small page views, but very dedicated to Korean local people.

Around 2000 daily. I'm not sure how effective for you to advertise. (Almost NO indie game had project wonderful banner for Pig-Min.) However if you want to attract Korean people, Pig-Min is for you.


- Even if Pig-Min is focused into Korean people, some foreigners visit English site.

And both of Korean & English have same banners. I attached banners to English site within 1 week, so total page views are not so big. However worth to check. Sometimes people visit English site to Read my interviews in the past.


I really like the idea of Project Wonderful. Even I used their advertisement for Pig-Min Agency, and for my side-project iSeeToon. Hope more gaming sites have it, even if ad costs are very low...
