I have been working on the last couple of days on a new website and also on an alpha for public release.
I think the website looks really good and I would like to get your feedback. I would also like to get feedback on the game.

http://www.rivelund.net/

Wonder: The Evil is a very short RPG mutliplayer game, taking place in Rivelund. A land that used to be a land of peace, but now is terrorized by terrible creatures.
The game plays like a semi real time Rogue game, in the sense that everyone move one turn at the same time, but the turns last only 0.8 seconds.
The battle mechanics are very simple(currently), but I elaborated on that simple mechanics to have some different interesting enemies.

All feedback is welcome. Thank you.

Ooops, you are right.

Edit: I am uploading it right now, should be ready in 2 minutes.
Edit2: Don't forget to allow the program through your windows firewall.

Edit3: If you get online and I am not responding, then you can minimize the window, and when I will get back the window tab will highlight of new activity.

Thanks for config.txt upload

I've tested the game and here are my thoughts:

I think it's a nice start and have potential but first of all you should start woring on faster movement and server vs client connection speed. It takes some time to accept movement.

Attacking is a bit "not-wanted". It would be better to have attack button or at least that attack occurs only when you select monster and come closer.

Anyway, it's first public alpha so I'm sure you have many plans for the future how to make game better. Keep it on and keep us updated Smiley

Thank you for trying.
Well, some people who play the game first time, don't realize the nature of the controls and movement. I belive it is not clear enough.
The game is turn based, much like a Rogue game. Only, the turns last 0.8 of a second.
That means you can't start moving whenever you like, you can only start moving when the next turn begins. Although this happen very fast becasue each turn is only 0.8 of second.
People might try to press the arrow key once to move, but you are really better to hold down the arrow key until you see your character move. This is because the game will try to register your movement of the last state of the keys. So you can regret and change your movement before the turn ends. This is limited by the lag you have. If you have more lag, you will have less opportunties to regret and change your move in the last moment.

Does this make the movement and controls more clear?

I didn't quite understand what you ment about the attack, but I will be glad to explain that as well.

Yeah, it's a bit more clear now Smiley Oh, nice addition would be a counter for turn and make movement a bit faster (make it come from one tile to another a bit faster

What I had in mind with attacks is that I don't fully understand how it works. You just need to have "sword attack" selected and come close to a monster to attack it?

Sadly, it's not simple to make the turns shorter, due to network issues.

Yea, attacks are basically you choose sword mode and stand next to a monster and it attacks automatically each turn.
There are a few issues though. First there is the shield mode, which means you will attack only if someone is attacking you(enemy has sword mode selected).
If you are surrounded by more than one enemy, then pressing in his direction will select to attack him, because you can attack only one enemy with a simple attack.
There are also some "rules" of attacking in movement. If you flee, you won't attack the enemy(even if you have a sword set and you are close to each other), if you pass by an enemy you both attack each other.
I will probably add more attacks, such as magic and perhaps projectiles, but for this game this simple attack is enough.

The site is very nice, but you'd better add a feedback when the cursor is over the buttons.

What do you mean? Having the buttons have visual cue that they are pressable?

I mean to provide a visual feedback when you move the cursor over the buttons (something like this).
