begin: nostalgia

Anyone hear every mess about with directmusic?  I remember being absolutely astonished by it when I first came across it in the SDK; I don't think I've ever seen a framework (along with some pretty neat sequencers) that allowed for such a freakishly dynamic amount of content.  I remember one of the demos for it being a game of tron where you moved in time with some irritatingly syncopated backing track.  (though it could do a lot more: it supported soundfonts I think, and you could get it to change harmonies on the fly).  I don't know if anyone every actually bothered to use it for anything though   Roll Eyes

I still use directmusic as my midi player for all my games :D
I'm not entirely sure what the status of it is though. My guess would be that it's supported for backwards compatability but highly discouraged.
