Do these have to be in order? Because I'd like to just list my favorites without any order. I love them all equally.

Minecraft
Super Meat Boy
Super Crate Box
Dwarfs (unreleased)
Hydorah
Streemerz
Beat Hazard
Zen Bound 2
Goblin Camp
VVVVVV

Honorary mentions to anything by increpare.

7. flotilla
6. redder
5. norrland
4. vvvvvv
3. streemerz
2. super meat boy
1. amnesia - the dark descent

Couldn't think of 10 so I chose 7. 2010 wasn't the best year for indie games, especially when I think back and compare it to 2009.

10. Revenge of the Titans
9. Hero Core
8. Limbo
7. Super Meat Boy
5. Distorted Travesty
4. Minecraft
3. Amnesia - The Dark Descent
2. depict1
1. VVVVVV

These are all in no particular order, by the way.  Despite being an art game at its core, I still feel Limbo was among one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had this year, despite all the hype and praise being poured into it.

Distorted Travesty sort of popped out of nowhere and surprised me some time last week.  Despite some obvious lack in originality in terms of story and characters, the gameplay at its core is awesome, and really hearkens back to some Megaman-style stuff, albeit some obvious differences.

But yeah, this year really produced some awesome new stuff, and I'm happy to be in the independent gaming loop to experience it all.

I'm bad at such stuff, mostly I think because I play games so out of order. My memory might not be the best either, ehem.. Ninja

Looking through those lists these games strike me as notable:

1. Space Funeral (definitely the most notable)
2. VVVVVV
3. Super Meat Boy
4. Tower of Heaven (though I guess it's more of a re-release?)
5. Flotilla
6. Streemerz
7. Give Up Robot 2
8. Super Crate Box
9. Minecraft

I'm not sure, but this year doesn't seem to have as many games that touched me profoundly. Space Funeral and VVVVVV were definitely the exception (and Tower of Heaven though I played that before 2010).

Games I still need to play though:
Amnesia
Recettear
Octodad

In no particular order

Battle Kid and the fortress of Peril
Redder (wait was that this year??)
Hero core
VVVVVV
Space Funeral
Minecraft
Super crate box
Streemerz
Super meat boy
Osmos

Id say Battle kid, Space Funeral, Minecraft and Super Meat Boy would be the most memorable games of the bunch.

And id add the new Dwarf fortress version but thats cheating, right?

1st Teppoman 2 (Dammit, I'm almost out of time to get that review going)
2nd Space Funeral (It's like this game was made especially for me)
3rd Norrland (I haven't written enough about this, but it's my favorite Cactus title)
4th Desktop Dungeons (Perfect mindless activity for digesting new music)
5th Super Meat Boy (Nobody needs to make Flash platformers anymore.)

Honorable mentions go to Super Crate Box, Redder, Hero Core, Give Up Robot 1+2, and a handful of others I can't remember due to light-headed insomnia. Being one of those faux-journalists I got to play V^6 last year, and count that as last year's favorite (and I'd endlessly flip-flop between it and Teppoman 2 as GOTY), and I haven't gotten to properly experience Limbo or Amnesia yet.

This is a special sneak preview of my PTT top five countdown, btw.

Alphabetically. 12. Deal with it.
Also, Dwarf Fortress' new version is awesome too.

My top 13 were these ones n_n (Why 13? becuase 10,11, and 12 are overrated Smiley)

1 - Super Meat Boy
2 - Limbo
3 - VVVVVV
4 - Minecraft
5 - Where we Remain
6 - BIT.TRIP.RUNNER
7 - Ammnesia
8 - Hero Core
9 - Super Crate Box
10 - Hydorah
11 - Desktop Dungeons
12 - Synopsis quest
13 - Poto & Cabenga

Runner ups for me, which are awesome games too are

Osmos
Megaman 8-bit deathmatch
Grow: Valley
Transformice
Action Fist
Activate the three artifacts and leave

Hmm there are some games mentioned I haven't played.. gotta play lots n_n

I think there were a lot of good games to play this year, 2010 marks of a loong decade for indies... from zero to hero (not to diss anything before 2000, but well I think it was a different scenery back then)

To be honest, I think the independent gaming world is like good wine... it only gets better and better with age Wink

Here's my favorites:

Space Funeral
Hero: Core
Norrland
VVVVVV
Streemerz
Minecraft
Super Crate Box
Action Fist!
Corporate Climber
Redder

Can't pick out a favorite, but they're listed in the order I remembered them.

Honorable mentions go to Give Up Robot 2, Composition Piece (or anything by Theta), A House in California, Fish Face, and Frankie's Non-Human remake.

I also might have listed Saira and Super Meat Boy, if either of them worked on my computer... and Hydorah, if I didn't suck at it.
