Just bought FFT. Got me in the mood for some isometric RPG sprites. This is excellent, and I don't think it got enough love.

alright my final is done so now I can post the complete version (didn't want anyone to think I had stolen it or something, though the odds of coming across it at all are slim) Wow, I didn't realize that was the scale you were planning on! I had been imagining people would be much smaller, and a much more massive wall, but I like it much better that way. The guy looks great as well! His right arm (I think? the rear one) feels just a touch too long to me, like it's a bit unnaturally extended. Love it.

Ahoy thar - kittehs! You had best be doing something with this. I will play the shit out of this game if it is made. I am, I am - I'll setup a devlog with more info next week, promise (should have done so ages ago, but I have been too distracted by other things)

Godspeed. You're gonna need it. It's faster than you'd think. EDIT: I should mention that I'm not the one programming it. I've sort of cut a deal with Adam_Smasher.

update: The basic version is fine, but one of the tweens seems wrong in the final version. Maybe you uploaded the wrong file by accident? The "jump off" phase shows a distinct hitch, as if there were two frames in the wrong order. Watch how his front feet seem to stick to the floor, then pop off. You might want to revise that one frame. Sorry for being critical, this should look very nice when finished.

Updated and animated my hero. He's more Mother'esque now (moved the eyes up one pixel and gave him a mouth). Also, this may or may not work within the GameBoy Colour restrictions. I'm using a bit of a trick to keep the colours working while he bobs up and down. Gonna check with the programmer later. EDIT: Added a bigger version that doesn't use any tricks, but takes up another sprite.

I don't know I liked the charm it had in the original sprite. The readability is also better in the original and the proportions + no mouth really made it look special for me.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I think the mouth actually detracts from the simplicity and charm quite a lot -- looking at those two animations I also think the one on the left looks a lot more solid, the one on the right looks bit silly with the legs kicking out to the sides like that. I think it would look great if you could give the original sprite (no mouth etc) the animation of that one on the left. Also, kitheif, damn that house is eerie. Nice work.
