wha? it's all the same resolution...and that resolution is pretty low... Anyway I really dig these. And that castle. The other pics don't seem to have the same finesse as those three.

Hey guys, I wanna make a game about frogs, and need a nice pixel artist. I...really don't care about the bits. I'd prefer 8 or 16, or something that looks like it...
WHO WILL JOIN ME? (please?)

I need some serious guidance colour-wise here. What do I need to do to make the colours of the mountains feel right? I want a sense of distance and I need them to not clash with the foreground tiles. Is baby blue really a good colour for mountains? (I am thinking not) Should the background and foreground mountain colours be swapped? What would be a totally different colour scheme that would work way better? My fog layer looks all wrong, how can I fix it? What should I do with that sky? I don't really know what I'm doing - I hate using colour. EDIT: oh god it's not even showing up. I'll link it:

One basic thing to keep in mind is that generally, the farther back something is, the lighter and less saturated it gets. Try making the mountain layer behind the first lighter than it, and the sky lighter still.

if you can change the background color too, even if it's not part of the image, because it change the way you see color, but right now mechanically your scheme is (almost) right, cold color recess and warm color progress and you have a neutral color to separate the too, it's more about the artistic choice now than the pure technical one, you need to made them work on an emotional level, and that depend on what you want to achieve...
now you may have to make the brighter mountain behind the darker one, and may need to adjust some local contrast too, especially on saturation level.

There is no right way to do something like this. This is art for crying out loud. The one spot left for being crazy and stupid and wrong in the world. Figure it out people. Jesus.

Yeah, I think maybe I need to look hard at some examples, then maybe do a few palettes and find one I like? The sky is definitely gonna be different, that and the mountains are giving off a kind of night-timey vibe but the tiles, which I don't want to change, are saying daytime. I kinda like the colour of the furthest mountains but I can't put them in front and I can't make the closer ones darker. I will do some fiddling. There is no right way to do something like this. This is art for crying out loud. The one spot left for being crazy and stupid and wrong in the world. Figure it out people. Jesus.
I would sorta like to know the rules before I go off half-cocked subverting them all. Like I said, colour spooks me and somebody steadying my hand is what I came in here for. Also, the rest of the game is going to be pretty bananas so some relatively straightforward bgs to keep things sorta grounded would be nice to have.
