I haven't been pixeling for a while. Trying to get back into the swing of things. Still wip though. Based on my concept sketch. Nice, nice, nice. Don't see much of these large kind of sprites.

My first real foray into making art for games. Some sprites for a viking game a friend and I are working on.

The bangs on the last one don't really work. They stay in exactly the same spot in the frame during the entire animation (because you move them up when he moves down). Same for some pixels on the side of his hair. Moves those around a bit so it doesn't look like they're stuck in place Movement in the legs is ace, though!

The head is a bit pillow-y, the neck looks a bit flat, and generally flat contrast mostly makes it hard to read. The black bands wrapping around his body don't really need to be shaded, for instance. Try making the colors and shapes more visibly separate (making the neck a different color, moving some shading, etc). Right now a lot of the shading, especially on the bottom, is just there to be a different color with light going all over the place and making him look weirdly chunky, instead of rounded or anything. His arm looks kind of like it is a part of his body cuz of color choices.
In short: Play around with the colors, especially the shading and contrast.

my first time working with GraphicsGale... a useless sprite I made to test things out.. Needed a new avatar that looks like a wonderful antagonist for a run and shoot game, but it could fit almost any genre. maybe he could even be a protagonist

I've been thinking about making a sneaking and saboteuring game involving drunk french men but that could work too!

bad techniques are still worth pointing out even if you, as a less experienced artist, dont see them as a problem
actually that just applies to everything in general its not exclusive to art

There's also the chance that he did that to make the tree more round but it's simply too off

Yeah, I did that to try to make everything a little rounder/softer, but I guess it didn't work...

I did notice what was wrong when Quarry pointed it out, so im not that inexperienced. What I found really funny about it all was the fact that Quarry said in one post "neaaat" and then after taking a closer look said "not so neaaat". I wasn't trying to ridicule him.
