I starded working with this foliage again. Wich one is better the new or the old? New one looks more like a snes styled and realistic and the old one is more simplistic. New is way better. Huge increase in readability

I posted this in the screenshot saturday thread, but anyway: A chunky pixel game thing that I'm undertaking. Not hugely satisfied with the tiles, and the flare is kind of annoying. It looked better before. :1 Chunky Pixel Game - directed by J.J. Abrams. FTFY (looks great btw!)

Just an unfinished piece of pixel work made by looking at a black and white picture someone drew while watching an SNL special last night. I haven't put in the vast majority of the details yet, but it was fun. Also, I just noticed that her hair and skin are shaded the opposite direction from her suit. Blech.

I really hope that it's just the place you uploaded it to that turned it into a jpeg.

Basically, yeah. I converted it from xcf to jpeg because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of picking formats.

I still have the xcf, though.

jpg is very bad for pixel art, use png, bmp or gif

It might just be me but that fez doesn't read "fez" to me.
Seems more like you cut the top off a dunce cap. I can't quite explain it.
hmm yeah i dont quite know what you mean, anyone else think that? i tried softening the angle at the top of the fez which may be an improvement, what do you think? Uploaded with ImageShack.us

but using a format that reduces quality while increasing file size is the gravest sin of image compression.
can't give them an inch. zero tolerance.

dum its literally an option in the same dropdown menu you use to save it as a jpg it's not /really/ a big deal but if he wants to go and say Basically, yeah. I converted it from xcf to jpeg because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of picking formats. Laziness: 1 Me: 0
then i'll have to call him out on it because it's really not that much effort at all. and when he did reupload it, the service he used automatically converted it back to jpeg, which i pointed out to him. to go into the actual piece however: the lighting doesn't make sense. the light seems to be coming from the left for the character's face, and from the right for the rest of its body. it also suffers from banding issues (specifically with the dark blues on the left side of her torso and leg).

that tiles pretty well, but i have a feeling that its just because its a large tile. down the right hand side there is a distinct long vertical line that is pretty noticeable.
lovely altogether, though.

@OldSoulCyborgI think that it tiles pretty well. The colors are a bit bland, why not try hue-shifting a bit to add a bit of variation to it? I've been struggling with making a similar wall tile, I like the approach you've taken.
