some real cool stuff in this thread.

I've been pixeling lately to add to my portfolio, trying to start freelancing. I've finished these recently.

I'm inclined to agree, that train is the definition of badass

I think the only place that sticks out as "wrong" is the solid black middle section. It doesn't really look like much of anything, because it is a solid color save the red decal.

That train is so awesome, I like the symbols and I like the little dude on the back. The background seems a bit static though, kinda destroys the illusion of movement.

@Keo
Great colors! I like that style.

Is there a thread where people describe their pixel art process? I'd love to see how you get from blank canvas to these amazing pieces.

Do you sketch it first? or straight to your grid?

okay so quick question. I saved an old mockup to my computer. Someone did a bunch of mockups using a small color palette. I saw it on here but I am having trouble locating it. this was the mockup.

I liked the small blue knight character and wondered if they had done anything else with it.

A Bunch of Indies (part one?)

Run cycle. It's not perfect, but it's alright.

Yet another rendition of a MafiaDude (Hint it's the far right one)
Based partially on one of my other sprites I made:

It's interesting to see how my art goes from:
Tiny, Stark colors
Large, Stark colors (Thoughts at the time: "oh god what have I done making it this big")
Tiny, Faded Colors (Thoughts at the time: "I like these colors")
Small, Stark Colors (Thoughts at the time: "Hm, but let's go back..")
Medium, Faded Colors (Thoughts at the time: "Must make 'realistic', yet humorous...")
Medium, Faded Colors, Pink skin (Thoughts at the time: "Hm... let's try something")
Medium, Stark Shades, Faded Colors, White skin (Thoughts at the time: "The old ways are best. But let's make something still new")

Sprite on the left was rushed so I'm having a go at adding some character to her. Played some Super Princess Peach as inspiration Kiss

Thanks, guys!

I guess I was going for a pretty simple kind of style. It was sort of influenced by how Mrmo Taurus does his stuff.
I think the only place that sticks out as "wrong" is the solid black middle section. It doesn't really look like much of anything, because it is a solid color save the red decal.
The reason it's a solid colour is because it's ment to read as a flat surface. If anyone else thinks this doesn't look right please say.
Now that it's been mentioned I feel that its not casting a shadow leaves it disconected, but I don't think the surface itself is wrong. Sorry for being a big baby and rejecting criticism.

That train is so awesome, I like the symbols and I like the little dude on the back. The background seems a bit static though, kinda destroys the illusion of movement.
Yeah, a few people have pointed that out. It's because I'm lazy Wink

@Fawful - The train's really cool, but the knight is ace on so many levels. I think it could use a dark shade from the top of its feet up on its legs, and the sword seems to stick out some, but otherwise, it's really excellently drawn. The old man's excellently drawn, as well. Great work!
