@Thomas Finch everything about that GIF is just gorgeous ! but those clouds are what really caught me. most pixel clouds fall flat or look too shiny, these really capture that soft billowy look you'd expect

The above water's dirt tiles are really busy, and the blocky tiles under the sea are a bit too blocky, but it's all well-done. Nice work.

I decided to experiment with some larger and less restricted tiles for this old mockup. I tried to limit the tile count a lot to make it feasible. Looks like it might be, at least as far as tiles go. A low tile count should also make level generation easier, so that's a plus. Larger sprites on the other hand... Retro goodness
This needs to be a rom hack

Both of them are very well done! I do agree that the higher resolution one is much better though. The one on the left just feels so cluttered.

some Chasm artwork: That looks amazing. There's one thing that I notice... Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but it looks like the middle of the tree caves inward instead of pops out.

Oh god, now me too. I think it's the lack of highlighting on the edges of the "strips" of bark near the center. ( beetleking: why would he post someone else's artwork? )
