The grey tree especially looks very side-on.
This is very true. However, I absolutely adore the concept. There's something about stylized spiraling accents on trees that just makes me every time. Maybe that's just me. This reminded me of a pixel tree I did a couple years ago:

This thread needs more pixel fonts Yeah. In fact, an entire thread for pixel fonts would be cool, too. I've got sort of an obsession with them.

Yeah, I've made a few. Here's one I created a while ago and have used in my games since:

pixel fonts you say? both are somewhat old and could be used with slight tweaking (making them monochrome and such) aaaalso revamp of a sprite I did a year ago Still that character for the game I'm gonna make someday, but he got redesigned several times now, still unsure if I should give him some kind of armor though...

That second font is delicious, nooks.
And those sprites are pretty nice. Especially that first one, there.

I think they are pretty good. You shouldn't be embarrassed. The guy at the desk for some reminds me of Dragon Ball Z when Goku is in heaven and that God guy is sitting at his desk.

Rectangle heads! I quite like this style but the heads might be too squared. I started drawing them in wide pixels so it kinda stuck. They're not too squared at all. It's like cave story gone amiga. Love the double pixel stuff

I still remember the advice Xerus gave me about the color slider back when I did the Jake Metric piece...I was so blown away that I decided to always over-saturate my pictures, and while that's turned out alright, I've discovered that it's all too possible to overdo it...
what advice? link to the Jake Metric piece?

Thanks. lol It took me forever to figure out how to set it up. I don't know why but it wouldn't let me upload it directly from my computer.

stuff
Yeah! I enjoy saturated colors so I'm always biased ;p That advice is more about my campaign against the practice of adding black or white to a color to make it darker or lighter. The result of that is the desaturation of the color, and it's just something that personally never looks right to me. (Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any damages done for taking my advice.)

This whole idea was actually driven home for me while studying the renaissance, particularly michelangelo who was a true badass with hue blending. This is probably my favorite part of the sistine chapel for this exact reason: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Daniel_(Michelangelo).jpgThanks for the post/image. It's nice to see a breakdown like that.

I completely changed my mech character (see my avatar for my old one) , I think this guy : (link is to ukimagehost , least I could do is leave the link intact this time ) represents the idea of a older model contruction mech turned military in a hurry better. I want a mech thats basically on its way out of the scene, the pilots of these mech ridiculed by the pilots with the newer fancy models... until suddenly these old mechs are all thats left to defend the ship with. As usual , contructive feedback is always welcomed... I am still learning this pixel art thing and appreciate tips and advice.

Spent last night making a three-hour game in Game Maker with two people from down the hall. I provided most of the sprites, and I'm particularly proud of how these two came out. The red Big Core homage is the boss, and there's the player for comparison. Lighting's pretty inconsistent, but then again, I made this at 4:30 AM.

I'm having a hard time making sense of that are those teeth going flying? Is it... folding in on itself or what? I think I get it, but I'm not sure. The animation is smooth, though.
