I see a skull looking to the left.
From your perspective? From his I see him looking right. Which would be left from where I'm sitting. Anyhow, glancing at it I have no problems reading it. If I try to focus on details however, I do. NOW I CAN SEE BOTH AGH

This is an extremely rushed frame from a mostly non-pixeled art/animation project.

I thought maybe some simple lighting would help to make the background more interesting, and less uniform. I did a quick edit; it works fairly well sticking with two colours I think.
[Rad image edit here]
Another possibility I thought of is using a third colour for doing the near-corner highlights on the rocks, but I imagine you don't want more than two colours.
:O Wow, what an amazing improvement. Using your advice I've constructed two new backgrounds. [The new rock design is a bit more pointy towards the screen so it looks more like a cave wall than a mountain side.] I'm not sure which one I like better. They both seem a bit..'off'.

Don't donate your bodies to science kids, all that's going to happen is that 500 years later you wake up like that

Something simple to thank people for 7,000 profile views on DeviantArt: I would have added some warmer colours and objects, but it's so cold in my house right now (and outside of the house for that matter), I really couldn't think anything other than "cold" and "stark".

I recently picked up an old project I started a long time ago and the art is just terrible. I can't stand to look at it. I decided a revamp is in order, but I'm really bad at pixel art Here's my attempt: I drew the inspiration from here: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=9691.0Er... more to the point I traced over it and altered it somewhat . I'm just using that reference right now to try to get the style down before I tackle drawing it from scratch. Any suggestions on making it less sucky would be appreciated.
