That really reminds me of those old first person fake 3D maze games. Looks great.

Screenshot of a new Tileset Smiley based on 2 layers.

I might be totallt off here so correct me if I'm wrong but the lighting seems to come from underneath(if you look at the gradient sky), but the shadows on the tree indicates that the light comes from above. Am I wrong? In either case, superb pixel art. I love it.

@Wade McGillis, kato9, SolarLune - wow, thank you guys alot!

Thats a good point, thinking about it. I really do intend the lighting to come from above. I imagine the sun being behind the camera, but at a much higher level of course. Now, I am not trying to produce a naturalistic scene, but it is an interesting thought. To be honest, I have no idea to what degree this situation would be possible IRL - exaggerated Rayleigh scattering might look like this  Beg Anyways, thanks alot for putting so much thought into it! I might experiment with the gradient some more to see if it looks better.

water tiles are really difficult to get looking right without a ton of contrast issues.

Eldboll, thank you! I like your animation too, and there's been ridiculous amount of work there, unlike my lazy keyframe juggling. Smiley
Can I give you a suggestion? Just on the frame where he faces the player, contorting his eyes... display that for a couple frames longer, and the frames before and after too. A mini-slo-mo, if you will. I promise it'll make it look even better! (Also, perhaps make the fall a tad quicker towards the end, so that it'll really hurt him fall on his face. Smiley

Thanks for the suggestion, I see what you mean about the mini slo-mo! I'll jump back and experiment asap!

Lots of character in a really low amount of pixels, really cool! I don't know if it's just my monitor, but I have a really hard time telling that character apart from the background though. Maybe something worth looking into!

Gauss Jordan
Looks really solid so far, you nailed the expression really well! I think someone else pointed this out as well, but at first glance I though he held a glass in his hand and not a cellphone. Other than that, really nice work!

Jared C
Really solid colors, I like it!

Made the sprite for this little sucker yesterday and spent a few hours today animating it:
