I have had an fascination with looping animations as long as I can remember. In 2005 I started a little tradition where I make a gif animation every autumn, mostly using MSPaint and only using the standard MSPaint palette. I'm not sure they all qualify as pixel-art, but in that case you can see them as development leading up to the 2008 animation.
2005:After watching too much weebl and bob I decided to try to animate something. Every frame is drawn from scratch in Paint.
2006:I had just had my heart broken and doing this animation was a way cope with the feelings. All MSPaint.
2007:My original inspiration was The Groke from the Moomin books. I had just read them back to back, triggering me to make a big water wheel from sticks, bark and string, as well as making this animation. (The final result isn't anything like the Groke, though.) Drawn in Paint, with some things fixed on pixel-level in Photoshop.
2008:I was drawing some pictures in Paint and managed to make a pretty cute animal, when I realized I probably could make the same animal with only a fraction of the pixels. It was so enjoyable to only use a few pixels I just had to keep making iterations of my original dino-like creature. I ended up with an image of a running elephant, which I felt I had to animate. All parts of the elephant drawn in Paint, but put together in Photoshop.
I'm not sure it's done yet, feedback on this one is very much appreciated!
