TimelapseDeath screen for my game. Suggestions? Still trying to master shading, so any comments considering that are very appreciated.

I've seen this before - each of those drawings are sick. @rober7 - The dark area on the brim of his hat could be wider, and should be consistent with the lighting direction. Since the lighting seems to be coming from the top-right, and a bit forward (because it's on this side of the hat), try making the shadow extend backwards, away from the camera.

Thanks. How about this? I tried making the point of the hat seem further away also.

A lot better, definitely. I'm not sure about that shine; how shiny is the hat supposed to be? Otherwise, it's looking pretty good.

I agree. It's actually easier to draw when you have a very limited palette, because you have only so many options shading-wise, for example. For me, strictness significantly simplifies the whole process.

Limited palettes are an awesome design challenge, it can help push you to the limits of your creativity- like those old mockups I did with only two colors.

Didnt really get any crits or edits when I made a topic so~ Quick question, does anyone running windows 7 have trouble playing gifs? When I preview them, they all get stuck on the first frame :|

Heh, I was meaning to post in your thread but it totally slipped my mind. The use of clusters is lovely, but the stray red pixels on the edges (more specifically on the legs/feet) for lighting/anti-aliasing are really killing it for me. In some places it just looks like it doesn't belong (see: top and middle row, right version, shadow under the hand). I'm singling out the legs because otherwise, I really like the effect. It works really well on the arm not facing the screen and the head.
Finally, I love the little touch with the tiles in the shadow, it really makes the piece stand out for me. The piece gives me a Ragnarok meets Boktai vibe, and I'm lovin' that.
I don't have anything to say about the walk cycle since I'm too lazy to animate it. It looks pretty rough so I can't say I'm a fan of it as is either.

Microsoft removed that feature for some silly reason. I use IrfanView to view animated gifs, it's not perfect (some gifs have layering problems) but gets the job done.

Windows, lol. You can of course open gifs with your browser if you're unable to install a more suitable program.

Windows 8 solves that partially*. For about time, it was idiotic to remove that feature in the first place.
*gifs previewed in Metro mode play properly, but the problem still persist when using the legacy mode (using Windows Photo Viewer).
