Hey guy.s Making some faces to be on a Stone wall in my game. Wondering what you think works best.



so you think the shape could change at all?
I like these. the 1st, 3rd or 4th one look best IMO but it's hard to choose without seeing what it's going to be put into. You could use those as animations for a living torch face that moves? lol


Where's it weakest? Epileptic

making the back mountains lighter and bluer would help, i think.
Great advise! maybe add some grass to the top of some of those mountains, if that looks off then forget it but its worth a try, maybe some clouds? (I see part of a cloud on the right behind those flowers) that and maybe a moon or a sun? It looks great btw!

The faces seem to cartoony?  Maybe make the features on the faces not black?

I like the 1st and 3rd the best.

Color choice and geometry are very very nice!

But it looks kind of bad!

Why? Lots of jpeg artifacts. Don't ever save pixel work as .jpg, ever, ever. Ever. Save it as .png. Cuz that looks really nice and the fuzziness and lack of clarity blowing up the size and saving as .jpg brings to the table kinda spoils it. Sad

@ot0_m0t0 - Very detailed hospital. Very nice details.

The mule's pretty good, but I think the idle animation being him sitting down might be a bit off. The combination of profile perspectives for movement and straight-on perspectives for idling and jumping feels a little weird to me.

This was the current state of my game Misshoni as of a little while ago.



EDIT: I've realized since this pic was taken that the sun is in front of the background, haha. I've fixed it since then.

Lot of charm in them pots, I like 3 the best. Might be better with less contrast on the face instead of using straight black if they're just scenery - unless the faces are animated, in which case the black would make them stand out a bit more.

PJ challenge, 2 hours tonight. Tried to push the lighting a bit, not sure how well it came out with 13 colours, haha. The purple needed to make the light look a little warmer robbed me of my light green >_>

That's awesome! This inspires me to try to improve myself and read pixel art tutorials so I can improve, since right now I'm only self taught. looking forward to seeing more of your work Geti

Have a look at KAG2d.com then, its where most of my pixel efforts have gone for the past 540 days or so. Glad you like it.

Dont just read pixel art tutorials to improve though, consider general art tutorials and a hell of a lot of studies. Pixel tutorials are few and far between, and mostly suck. While reading a bit of pixel theory on pixelation can help, doing teaches you a lot more than thinking about doing.
