I read somewhere that drawing a lot of pieces is better than belabouring a long time on one piece, so that's sort of what I'm going for still...

Hey man, I just wanted to pop in and say that I looked at all of your pictures and I like them. Maybe someday someone with some actual critiques will stumble in!

I like this one especially. Probably just because I think rapiers are the coolest thing ever. It's pretty stylin'.

thanks, man. I have a long, long way to go. my proportions are terrible, my linework is shoddy, but it's really nice to get some encouragement to keep scribbling. Smiley

One thing that's really helped me along with my art is blind drawing or blind contour drawing.  The general idea is to look at a subject and sketch it without looking at your paper.  Oftentimes when we look at the paper what we draw is what our mind "thinks" things should look like instead of what they really look like.  Blind drawing forces the mind and hand to work together to simulate on paper what your eyes are truly seeing.

Obviously you will never be able to replicate what you are seeing perfectly, but that's not really the point.  This is an exercise.  As with any physical activity the more often you do it the more muscle memory you retain, and within months you should start to see an improvement with your drawing.

For whatever reason this helped be vastly more than when I was trying to train using loomis.  I think it's because I easily get bored, so what I did with my contour drawing was to go out into the world with a sketchbook and draw any damn thing I saw.  Anyway keep up the hard work!

Thanks for the tip ryansumo. I haven't tried that yet.. I'm gonna have to get myself into the right mindset for it, because I think I will be very frustrated with the results at first Smiley

Also, a new art..

Despite what it seems I do still practice now and then. I'm not really sure why I am drifting towards the chibi style..
