"Greetings astronaut!  Your country needs you!  Needs you to be blasted permanently into space!  In space you will meet many strange beings!  Some are your enemies!  Some are your friends!  Shoot your enemies until they die!  Trade with your friends to improve your spaceship!

You never know what you will find in space!  It is a big place!  The amazing stories will amaze you!"

DOWNLOAD NOW (2Mb)

Features:

  • Hardcore shmup action with an RPG twist.
  • 2Mb file is for hardcore broadband users only.
  • Randomised encounters with mysterious aliens.
  • Realistic binary personality generator creates both obsequiously friendly and ragingly hostile characters.
  • Upgrade hard science fiction components such as 'length' and 'width' from their initial, random settings.
  • High definition depiction of rectangles is ready for the plasma screen era.
  • Incessant swearing.
  • Uncompromising realism depicts the monotony of space travel.

Update: Okay, it's about as done as it's going to get.

-----------------------------Old stuff-------------------------------------------

(Note: given how I've coded about half the game just this evening, I'm willing to bet I'll be spending the next four weeks adding to my procedural insult generator.)

(Additional note: no, the finished version isn't going to look any different from this.)

(Further notage: yes, I'm aware that this isn't the B-game competition.  Tongue)

Those aren't stars, those are the bullets that will carve a path of death through hostile aliens!

The finished version may have stars if I can come up with a good method for it.   But stars have only a tangential relation to space travel, compared to, say, compound-swears like 'motherwad'.

Right, then you need us to be able to see the bullets better. It was actually really hard to tell if it was dirt or not.

I think they're a lot easier to see when they're in motion, but I'll make a note to get some feedback on it.  Thanks.  Smiley

FWIW, I can't see them at all.  But then, my monitor is pretty dust-covered, so...

I think I will enjoy this.

Do the insults have an impact on gameplay? Shades of monkey island...

Do the insults have an impact on gameplay?

The insults will cause you to question your right to exist, possibly slowing your reactions.
