Through The Fire And Flames has quite possibly my least favorite music video of all time. It's so boring.

Quote
This seems to me a statement like in the case of photorealism vs. hyperrealism

Quote from: Wookiepedia
Hyperrealism has its roots in the philosophy of Jean Baudrillard, ”the simulation of something which never really existed"
considering how much icycalm quotes baudrillard that seems about right.

Quote from: William-Adolphe Bouguereau
Each day I go to my studio full of joy; in the evening when obliged to stop because of darkness I can scarcely wait for the next morning to come…if I cannot give myself to my dear painting I am miserable.

Check out that apathy, it's so depressing. No wonder his paintings were so dispassionate, so lifeless.

Quote from: Pablo Picasso
To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense!

That's more like it!

I like how Tomack's questions were completely ignored.

That's because they can't answer them satisfactorily, and that's because no one can.  But they'll continue to ignore it, because to admit defeat to a subhuman would crush their fragile world-view.

But shouldn't you avoid judging a game (painting) by the developer's (painter's) personal life? At least, that's what you've said previously.

yeah i definitely agree that making a painting realistic doesn't necessarily make it lifeless

my favorite bouguereau painting btw:

but that doesn't mean that non-realistic paintings are bad either, like here's one from monet

i wouldn't say that the latter took less skill than the former (or vice versa)

although the entire analogy makes no sense, because a lot of indies make analogously photorealistic games and a lot of mainstream developers make analogously impressionistic games, even if the trend goes the other way

Quote from: Retarted fag
Oh my god that one is so twee! I am actually amused! These days that sort of thing is relegated to chocolate boxes and biscuit tins.
Quote from: Retarded fag
I would have to agree. I find this sort of devoid of passion, though the artists were clearly very technically skilled.

Enough! There is no more point to talk with retards. Anyone who can see a work like this:
http://employees.oneonta.edu/farberas/arth/Images/110images/sl13_images/Bernini_pluto.jpg
or
http://www.artrenewal.org/pages/artwork.php?artworkid=52

And say that it is "devoid of passion" is a subhuman faggot that has no sense of place or humility to the masters. Nothing more than a mentally retarded adults who can't understand humor, so they can only laugh when the screen tells them to. So yeah, praise Picasso or Pollock or whatever your social game tells you to, once the renewal comes back in full swing, you will be back to the same place as the ones who crushed Rembrandt -- nothing more than a vile con-artists deserving only the footnote in history.

As they say, you can lead a retard to water, but you can't make them drink.

And it is my standard you moron, although I picked them in relatively short amount of time. Still, between Pollock and that? No question.

Taste is subjective, there is room for disagreements between experts, but not between fagots and me.

Edit: clearing a few things.

a skilled plumber who is passionate about his job is a great artist. plumbing is art.

would you agree with these statements?

it was still kinda dumb to call bouguereau "devoid of passion" though.

I hope this is a joke, art can't be defined, it's subjective.
