This game looks really good!

Thanks Smiley

I'm wondering how you're doing text in game. Did you have to make that font yourself or is the effect in game largely post-processed?

I've simply drawn it like that. The only bit of post-processing regards colors, as texts appears also in red and yellow (in the menu).

What a pleasure when you get competent and insightful reviews Tears of Joy
The game isn't out yet (lots of work needs to be done on the website, manual, package art and trailer, and I have also to decide whether to wait for when I'll have a working AmigaOS machine again so that I can release that version at the same time as well), but, as already announced, it's complete, so I gladly let RGCD's boss have a look at it. If you want to learn more about the game, just head over to his nice review at http://www.rgcd.co.uk/2013/03/huenison-pc.html Wink

nice review,

Indeed. I must say I was very pleased with how he caught some indirect but key aspects of the gameplay.

I'm also very happy to announce that the game will be published by RGCD (www.rgcd.co.uk), a truly passionate retro game publisher!

Hi all,

if this sort of post is not welcome, please let me know and I'll delete it immediately.

Huenison has just been nominated for the Indies Crash E3 competition, so now it needs votes!
It's late, as the competition started a while ago and will end on May 15th, but it's still possible to make it to the top of the chart with just 500 votes.
If you think Huenison deserves it, please vote and share Wink
Thank you!

Although the game is in its final testing phase, lately I've had this idea and yesterday I couldn't resist anymore Shrug
So, I've added a couple of pseudo-CRT modes:

On another note, initially the trailer was not uploaded to YouTube because YouTube's downscaling (800->720) and compression had too a negative effect - look at this:

original is the source 800x800 lossless RGB video
Facebook is the 800x800 video on Facebook
YouTube is the 720x720 (HQ) video on YouTube

Anyway, now the trailer is publicly accessible on YouTube as well:

Great to hear - thanks for trying it out and for reporting! I'm glad that you liked it to the point of trying it on Wine Smiley
I personally tested the entire game successfully with Wine on Linux and a betatester had a shot at it on MacOS, so it should indeed work fine.

OK people, some more information now that the publisher's pages are up...

RGCD announced the release of the demo in style here, including also an interview (pruned of the excessive blabbering) with me. Those who are really curious can read the full version at https://www.facebook.com/notes/huenison/rgcd-interview/384266271694267 Wink
I guess you also would like to know when the game will be released and how much it will be: it should be out in a couple of weeks and, as the shop page indicates, it will be ridiculously inexpensive: just 2.99 GBP Shocked Kiss

No problem! The only issue now is that I finished the demo in like five minutes, much to my dismay.

Other than that, I'm really liking it. It took me a while to realize that the colors cycled in the opposite direction that I thought they did and I still hit the wrong button occasionally but otherwise it's pretty great.

Hehe... yes, it's just a little appetizer which includes only some of the introductory levels Tongue
Anyway, one thing is completing the 5 levels, another is mastering the game: unless you've already done so, play it again trying to discover all the tricks and to make a every time a higher score. To discover as much as possible, I recommend reading the instructions, either from the menu scrolltext (use LEFT/RIGHT to halt/accelerate) or, even better, in the included manual.
Knowing all the possibilities pushes the player to make strategic choices, to achieve sub-targets, to face the challenge with a different mindset (f.ex., knowing that the untouched ground gives points every second invites the player to never let any brick land on it; or, knowing how the QUICKSHOT bonus works, invites the player to hit bricks in a different way; etc.). Of course, the experience is not only useful for making points, but it's also crucial to pass the "real" levels.

Oh, no problem then: just reconfigure the controls the way you prefer Wink
BTW: the options also allow to reconfigure the video mode and the dots mode (i.e. pixel shader): fiddle a bit with those settings to find the combination you like the most. By default, the game uses the same resolution of the desktop and the biggest "square" dots possible, but one might prefer something else.

Nope, never heard of that. I hope it doesn't sound bad, though!
