I'm surprised by Desktop Dungeons being a grand prize finalist, since i didn't think so much of it, but will go check it out soon.
Also found it quite an achievement for Nidhogg to be nominated for both Grand Prize and Nuovo, as they seem to be almost opposites.

Otherwise I'm still looking forward to playing Miegakure and Nidhogg myself.

What about you guys and girls?

I'm glad to see SpyParty made the list for the Grand Prize.  It was incredibly entertaining at PAX.  People were crowded around to see it the whole time.

Oh yeah, totally!
Especially after hearing in this http://youtu.be/famaMoGHoZQ interview that the game was at least 2 years off, according to Hecker himself.

It did get a honorary mention (cut them above for brevity), so it came close.

I actually kinda hoped Overgrowth would make it into Visual or Grand Prize, since it's one damn-fine looking game. But it's still in Alpha, I suppose. Maybe next year.

Maybe it's just not a real gam yet.

I really like the list this year, no real complaints. (Well, I dunno about Minecraft; while it deserves the nominations, I'm still iffy on it having been submitted.) It's awesome that nidhogg is in the main finalists, and everything is pretty well suited to its category.

I'm surprised to see Cave Story nominated for Excellence in Visual Art, and, to a lesser extent, Nidhogg and Desktop Dungeons for the grand prize. Glad to see Super Crate Box and SpyParty in there, though.
I'm disappointed that La-Mulana and Recettear didn't get any nominations (though Recettear did get two honorable mentions), and that Achron didn't get nominated for Technical Excellence.

not a bad year.

Cat and the Coup looks fantastic really, really excited for that game.

Glad Amnesia got a nomination in Audio. So horrible the audio in that game (in a good way) especially the teeth grinding.

I really want to play Nidhogg; my little bro is in town so it'd be the perfect time to give it a test run for reviewing purposes.

I spent way too much time this year with Desktop Dungeons, I'm glad it's sort of validated with its nominations.
