This is the reason I don't read mainstream comics anymore.

Fixed. Old mainstream comics had a lots of campy charm to them.

And, I've just noticed: none of the characters seem to have nipples (either that, or they're completely obscured by their veins :/  )

I bet 50 bucks the plot is also totally derivative and probably 95% identical to another plot in previous X-Men comics.
Pretty much that can be said for a lot of the stuff that goes on in the Ultimate lines.  That said, I do like how they made colossus, up there beside gambit as one of the top fictional sex-symbols of my childhood, gay (and the next issue is apparently going to centre around him).

There was a time when the fetish of comic writers was the spanking of minors (there are like half-a-dozen Superboy comics with that kind of cover).

Personally, I never liked mainstream comics, period.

Insofar as manstream comics go, i was very impressed by new Daredevil series, right up until shortly after they killed froggy off.  As of things that are interesting and on-going, I have to say that I'm findind Ex Machina quite poetic and generally compelling.

Also, on the subject of stupid comic frames, Superdickery is awesome.

None of these comic artists are any good at drawing people. This one just looks all wrong.

By far my favorite Batman comic moment.

I've chosen some pretty bad examples.  There are some pretty capable artists working on the Ultimate series I think ().   Just not any of the ones I've posted pictures of :/

Hmm, take Yanick Paquette for instance: his stuff rarely screams dynamism, but I do quite like the solidity of his style (yeah yeah, kudos go to the colourist and inker as well).

In terms of striking art-work, one of the most visually well-crafted series I've read recently is Invincible

Stylistically it seems pretty much flawless to my eyes.

By far my favorite Batman comic moment.
That website is too funny.

I'm a big fan of the art - pencils, inks and colours - in 100 Bullets, myself. Nice, and usually very stylish.

Carl Barks is the man!
