To be fair, there is a lot of prog that's really just overlong songs and pointless guitar noodling. It's kinda the same as with jazz fusion, the best stuff is really excellent but it's swimming in a sea of  soulless mediocrity passed off as great artistry.

Shinji Hikari is the worst animated fictionnal character ever.

100% worthless.

Who the hell is Shinji Hikari?

Shinji Mikami > Shinji Hikari (whoever he is.)

The protagonist in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Too obscure, I guess. Tired

I don't watch much anime anymore, but I tend to like weird anime, if it's well done and creative.

But I have to say, this recent trend of making them as gratuitous and stupidly violent as possible just to get attention, is getting old. It's the anime equivalent of torture porn like Hostel. Lowest-hanging fruit on a low fruit tree.
See: Gantz, Elfen Lied, Higurashi etc. Paranoia Agent was kind of like this but at least it had an underlying concept.

What's odd is all of the above that had a manga were far more intelligent and far less ridiculous on paper.

Just as an aside, "torture porn" is hardly a new phenomenon. In fact, Hostel and Saw are pretty tame compared to some Italian splatter movies from the 70s and 80s. They also lack the sleazy B-movie charm and surrealistic undertones of those films. I think some movies just shouldn't be made with a Hollywood budget (another controversial opinion right there).

So true, Naked Lunch anyone? Although I mostly like B-movies for their ridiculousness, 'Zombie Rival - The Super Ninja Master' is one of the best examples.

Ikari, and Hikari are different you know.

It's also not really controversial to hate him.

I find Kamina to be overrated and annoying.

It really isn't. I think Shinji is a sorry boy forced to mature way too quickly, subjected to horrible experiences for reasons outside of his understanding. He deserves a better life and all of his complaining is one-hundred-percent justified.

Never heard the entire discography, but Discipline beats the crap out of Red.
I dunno, I don't really compare the 80s era stuff to 60s and 70s Crimson. I see Discipline as the nerdy cousin of the Talking Heads' "Remain In Light" album (I mean that in the best way possible), which isn't suprising seeing as Adrian Belew played on both and there seemed to be a lot of exchange going on between the two bands at the time in general (perhaps via Brian Eno?).

I see starless and bible black as the best post "court of teh" king crimson album

Also, I actually found Greed Corp rather good and very very solid, much unlike many revewers state only becuase it has a limited set of units.

Aquaria is boring, in particualr the monologues.

I enjoyed The new adventures of Old Christine, and mourn its cancellation.

House MD is overrated. Maybe I am sick of cynical wiseasses.

Tomie was in some ways better than Uzumaki

Tokyo Godfathers was way better than Paprika

Miyazaki's works arent that compelling to watch.

Super Paper Mario is downright boring

Supreme Commander is meh

Tychus was an enjoyable character with character devlopment, much unlike everyone else.

South Park is boring

Eraserhead is probably Lynch's most boring work.

I can't be arsed to watch monster past ep 5

I hate it when people talk about "talent" when discussing music.

House is unpleasant to watch and the Lupus thing isn't funny at all.

House is a show that consists mostly of medical mumbo jumbo that makes their viewers feel smarter when they watch it.

That having been said, I think Hugh Laurie is stellar.

I really liked the first two seasons of House. The show gradually went to shit after that.

Didn't the Lupus thing die like 3-4 seasons ago?

I love Laurie's performance, but have to agree with Sinclair about the show going to shit after the second season. Olivia Wilde, the only redeemable thing in the show in years, had a totally crappy character. Makes me sad.

Couldn't agree more, actually.  In most conversations I find it's more controversial to actually stand up for him; this kid with one dead parent and one distant, manipulative parent forced into incredibly intense situations with weird spiritual/moral underpinnings.

Hell, a kid with a family life that messed up usually has a hard enough time getting from grade to grade in school.

Controversial: God Hand is practically a masterpiece.  One of Clover's best.

Not a big fan of the concept of watching movies or TV.  Fun things to do once in a while, as treats.  But that level of passivity just...isn't something I want to do often.

House is a show that consists mostly of medical mumbo jumbo that makes their viewers feel smarter when they watch it.
And at the end they magically find a disease that has absolutely nothing to do with the episode.
Laurie is talented only if your definition of talent is "english accent" (it works for many people)
Olivia wilde like most everything in the show is just a nerd bait(and ugly like a pug).
