I'm sure most of you know I take many so-called "conspiracy theories" with a little more than a grain of salt.

Anyone else think the mass global bird deaths are related to HAARP and/or chemtrails?

Are any of you even aware that our skies are being sprayed?

The reality, say biologists, is that these mass die-offs happen all the time and usually are unrelated.

Federal records show they happen on average every other day somewhere in North America. Usually, we don't notice them and don't try to link them to each other.

"They generally fly under the radar," said ornithologist John Wiens, chief scientist at the California research institution PRBO Conservation Science.

Since the 1970s, the U.S. Geological Survey's National Wildlife Health Center in Wisconsin has tracked mass deaths among birds, fish and other critters, said wildlife disease specialist LeAnn White. At times the sky and the streams just turn deadly. Sometimes it's disease, sometimes pollution. Other times it's just a mystery.

In the past eight months, the USGS has logged 95 mass wildlife die-offs in North America and that's probably a dramatic undercount, White said. The list includes 900 some turkey vultures that seemed to drown and starve in the Florida Keys, 4,300 ducks killed by parasites in Minnesota, 1,500 salamanders done in by a virus in Idaho, 2,000 bats that died of rabies in Texas, and the still mysterious death of 2,750 sea birds in California.

On average, 163 such events are reported to the federal government each year, according to USGS records. And there have been much larger die-offs than the 3,000 blackbirds in Arkansas. Twice in the summer of 1996, more than 100,000 ducks died of botulism in Canada.

"Depending on the species, these things don't even get reported," White said.

Quote
The irony is that mass die-offs — usually of animals with large populations — are getting the attention while a larger but slower mass extinction of thousands of species because of human activity is ignored, Wilson said.

There's a conspiracy where republicans are funded by the bankers and lobbyists, creating a conglomerate of control centered around a few mega-rich individuals, like the shadowy figures behind the Treasury, Exxon-Mobil, Haliburton, and Goldman Sachs.

They use their puppet government to steal money from the middle-class, distracting them with a "balanced" ad-dollars-starved media circus mostly centered on reality tv stars (you know, to replace the ol' fashioned dream of winning the lottery.)

They use this money to ruin the environment with wanton destruction in search of fuel and high body counts in foreign countries (the higher, the better for increasing demand to give guns to the OTHER side!  Profit!)

Yep.  Crazy conspiracy theories all over the place.  The nutters.  Who, Me?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110105/ts_yblog_thelookout/mysterious-bird-deaths-caused-by-fireworks

the media is claiming that the 5000 birds were killed by jan 1 fireworks

however i haven't heard of this happening in previous years and there are fireworks every year, so who knows

if it was a haarp test the gov would be more likely to test it away from populated areas so as not to seem suspicious

I think that a bunch of unrelated individuals are attempting to stay in power or achieve more by attempting to exploit the populace by using events that may or may not be the cause of an individual, which may or may not be the same individual as the one stated to want to gain or remain in power.

These individuals may form groups together in an attempt for a greater chance to stay in power but they commonly don't last long due to general backstabbing, inefficiency, and changing of plans.

Birds are dying off because the earth has stopped it's rotation. We will have to send a group of attractive scientists into the centre of the earth in order to detonate several nuclear devices to kick-start the planet.

Well, to be fair, the gap between the middle class and the upper class has widened due to the recession Tongue Research paper by Edward Wolff shows average income for middle class families dropped by more than triple the percent that upper class income dropped (36% versus 11%).

Not a conspiracy, but... worth noting.

With the formation of multinational companies, it's hard to believe that some of the upper level execs don't conspire vs. nations.

However, I don't believe they conspire on anything more dire than changing trade and commerce laws.

There are a thousand and one reasons why we never went to the moon. One of the most obvious indicators, to me at least, is the behavior of the astronauts. Why are they “in hiding”? And whey have they been shunning the public spotlight pretty much the entire time since the end of the Apollo missions. If they had really gone to the moon, they would be fixtures in the world of celebrities. They would be smiling into the cameras instead of “Tom Cruse”. But that’s “circumstantial evidence”. And ATS readers expect more.

Well, here goes. I came across this little gem just today through pure coincidence. science.nasa.gov... It’s an official NASA article, written only a year ago on 10 August 2005. And it says it all. From start to finish it shows the Moon landings never took place. I’ll quote some of the relevant passages:

1. “Astronauts on the Moon and Mars are going to have to cope with an uncommon amount of static electricity.” Are going to? I thought we were already there!

2. “But to astronauts on the Moon or on Mars, static discharge could be real trouble.” Could be? Why so hypothetical?

3. “Because the soil is insulating, providing no path to ground, a space suit or rover can build up tremendous triboelectric charge, whose magnitude is yet unknown. And when the astronaut or vehicle gets back to base and touches metal--ZAP! The lights in the base may go out, or worse.”
…whose magnitude is yet unknown. I thought we were already there!!

4. “Physicist Joseph Kolecki and colleagues at NASA Glenn first noticed this problem in the late 1990s before Mars Pathfinder was launched.” Hmm. We didn’t notice this until the late 1990’s?! I thought we landed on the Moon thirty years earlier in 1969!

5. “That discovery so concerned the scientists that they modified Pathfinder's rover design,..” “On the Moon, "Apollo astronauts never reported being zapped by electrostatic discharges," notes Calle.” Yep, they sure didn’t — because they never made it past the Van Allen radiation belts.

6. “Achieving a common ground on the Moon would be trickier, where there's not even a rarefied atmosphere to help bleed off the charge.” It sure would be. So let’s make sure we get things right when and if we finally do land on the Moon!

This NASA report was probably written and edited by more “junior” members, who forgot to be careful. In any case, I’m not anti-NASA whatsoever. In fact I’m their biggest fan. I think we should spend as much money on Space Research and research in general as possible. No, I’m not cynical, I’m serious. I actually think government is theoretically more capable of using resources wisely than private industry. In democracies, governments report to us, the people. Private industry is only beholden to their shareholders and could care less about the quality of their work (products). We just need to wisen up and start electing ethical leaders.

Somebody commented on this to me last week. Their reaction was that this is why we're having a global freeze - "Gotta stop global warming!" they said, and then Europe turns into a Popsicle for two weeks. Of course, to them it was just another example of hilarious government mismanagement and not tin foil hat secrecy.

However, I don't believe they conspire on anything more dire than changing trade and commerce laws.
Weapon manufacturers and oil companies have proven to play a large role in most conflicts the U.S. has been involved in and many important political figures in the U.S. government have had or do have a stake (or stock) in such companies. I'd say that if these upper level executives conspire to keep themselves in business and their companies lucrative then what they conspire for is war (which dramatically boosts arms and oil sales).

There is an interesting document on WikiLeaks where a U.S. ambassador is speaking with Sadam Hussein and Sadam is saying over and over that he does not want a war with the U.S. but Iraq is badly in debt already and the U.S. is demanding that oil be sold to them for way too little of a cost per barrel. We know there were no weapons of mass destruction, so I wonder what that war was really about... Hmmm... Tongue

I can't tell which posts in this thread are serious and which posts aren't.
That is because this thread itself is a conspiracy!

@madk
Yeah, they're talking about prolonged exposure in that environment. over the course of a couple of days (like the moon) there wouldn't have been such a big effect.

In regards to the hiding thing, these people were military men. they were pilots, and its pretty rare for military people to be very extroverted after their time.
