I'm in Australia at the moment (Perth), and there's a tremendous amount of coverage on flooding in Queensland as a whole, and the impending flooding in Brisbane. I seem to recall there are at least a few folks on here based in Brisbane, how are you chums holding up?

Also, are there impending natural disasters or aftermaths thereof anywhere else that TIGgers may find themselves?

I'm at the far north of the Gold Coast, ~60km from Brisbane. No flooding here yet and it's hard to tell if it will. Looks like Brisbane is certainly going under though.

To what extent is this making international news? What happened in Toowoomba yesterday was pretty insane.

It's been on NPR here and there. Hope everyone is doing alright down there; I can't even imagine having to confront that kind of craziness.

It's made national news here in the UK, aswell as world news. It seems to've been a really bad year for natural disasters.

As moon said, hope people are holding up alright.

It's on the news , but with global warming there are flooding pretty much everywhere in the world nowadays, all year long.
I heard someone say "Australia now has an inner sea" and I found it somehow awesome.
Also at first I thought it would be good because australia is rather dry (from my limited knowlmedge) but then  I thought that the place which are flooded are probably the wettest places in the country already (well logically it should be).

I live on a tropical volcanic island so it's pretty much disaster kingdom here too.

What I find amazing is the ration of the area to the number of people it's affecting. News reports seemed to say it was around 200,000 people, which is similar to the number of people in the (small) area of London in which I live.

Dude, we had a mini hurricane just last november, when the season was supposed to be finished. They took two days to remove trees from my road.

Nothing like the old days, Dean was the exception, no more direct death if death at all.
