These are a bit old. Working on some revamps right now.
Characters for my Lost Vikings-inspired sidescroller puzzle/rpg game. They're based on Paraguayan pop culture icons.
El Payesero is a huge brute witch doctor who speaks like the pigmys from WoW and is also a metalhead, the guy on his stick is Kandil (Based on the Toro Kandil, a traditional St. John's Festival game), who serves as a translator of sorts.
Mecachito is based on a popular magician and his ventriloquy dummy called Nizugan and Cachito. In this case, Nizugan (who isn't pictured here and exists in the universe as some sort of 'Nick Fury' who nobody knows) builds the robot based on his beloved doll and appears to the team of heroes only as an hologram which Mecachito displays and is known to them as 'The Ventriloquist'.
Soseji is a mutant parrot with samurai skills. Sort of a Ninja Turtles spoof. Comes from the idea of the popular 'Pancho' name people give to pet parrots in Paraguay. Pancho is also a word for sausage/hot dog, so he's a fan of hot dogs and his name is just the japanese word for it.
Finally, Ña Chipa is based on the idea of chiperas, ladies who sell a bread-like snack known as Chipa at the side of the streets. They're known for having huge wok-like wicker baskets where they carry their goods, so her shield is one of those baskets with the Paraguayan flag on it (also a Captain America spoof).
The idea of the game world is basically represent paraguayan culture in some capacity while also making a new fun fantasy universe based on real locations and such.
And here's a slighty improved version of Soseji
