I'm still stuck with only one warp found. Are there any visual clues for the other warps, or are they just as invisible as well?

I just want to ask something : if I understand correctly this was made with Game Maker ? Pure curiosity, as I am trying Game Maker these days.
Yep! Smiley It's 100% Game Maker, sans the sound extension I used (SuperSound). I'm considering releasing the source code at some point, too.

2 of the warps have visual cues; 1 doesn't but it's in a pretty obvious place.

Actually now that you mention it, it seems people are having lots of trouble finding the warps. Eh what the hell, here are a few hints (Highlight to see them):
Warp 1: Extremely close to 1 of the stars
If that still isn't obvious: On a floating island
Warp 2: Under a bridge (One of the more obvious ones)
Warp 3: In a dark cave ... I can't really say anything else without completely giving it away.

This is amazing Smiley I love how you managed to make a game so simple with all this depth.
I couldn't find the last warp though, but I kinda suck at finding stuff in games, so that's probably normal.

Congrats!

There are some good ideas in this game, but the one problem is there's not much logic to it.  You just keep pressing on every single wall until you find out which ones are fake and which are portals.    You just press on everything over and over and over until you win or give up.

I also revisited the gray warp several times until I figured out I must already have done whatever it was I was supposed to have done there, too.  So you might want to make it more obvious that there'd been a task there at all.

Besides that the game slows WAY down on certain screens and speeds way up on others, which is pretty distracting.

I think the idea was sound, but take a look at what other games have done with secret passages before you revisit this idea.

Found two of the warps, most of the stars. The variety of atmosphere and layouts were pretty compelling, and the music was probably the best parts of the game. Guessing the only warp I haven't found is the only one you must; with that one big horde of stars seemingly inaccessible without it.

I finally found everything.

I had always been jumping over Warp 1, and the entrance to Warp 2 was obvious once you pointed out its location.

Good luck with the Flash version.

Great atmosphere! Some of the transitions felt a bit jarring to me though, when the ambient sounds instantly changes when you go to a different screen. I think fading the sounds would help.

Your menu does not fit with the rest of the game in my opinion, and you shouldn't force players to consult a readme file for basic controls (this is especially important if you port it to flash).

I also feel like the game lacks incentive to play it after you've visited all the screens, I didn't feel an urge to collect all the stars. There simply is not enough game, so to speak.

So yeah, I think I will wait to port it until I have more experience under my belt. Right now I'm experimenting with FlashPunk, trying to get a platform engine working. Good fun! Gentleman

I agree completely, there isn't much incentive to explore; I think adding some interaction between the player and the environment would have helped aid that a tiny bit.

The readme was pure laziness on my part, haha. Once I finished everything and was about to ship the game, I noticed that I forgot to document the controls. Big Laff I just sighed and created a readme -- But yeah, that's something that needs to be fixed.

i enjoy experiential platformers, knytt and small worlds especially, so i got some enjoyment from this. i have to echo the sentiments about the gameplay, though. play trip world for game boy, it exhibits amazing ai for 'enemies', i feel this interaction greatly helped the game.

Well, this is quite the bump! The post reply box is giving me a warning. Big Laff

Anywho, I updated this game about a month ago out of sheer boredom. Today it hit me: I didn't post the updates here! D'oh!

Version 2:
-All the extra shortcuts now have hints.
-Added 4 new screens.
-Added a secret area that only opens once you complete the game.

Version 2.1:
-Level design has been touched up.
-Ambiance in the secret area has been changed.
-Fixed the double jump display in the secret area.

I also made a map of the game for people who are stuck, along with a clean map just because (Spoilers obviously).

The download link in the OP has been updated. Also worth noting, I have a website now. It should be in my profile if you are interested.

Old save files *should* work. If they do not I will probably ignore it because I'm officially done updating this game.

Anyway that's it! Cool
