Medieval Kombat

For this competition I'm going to make a top down 2d brawler. I'm going to go with a cartoony fantasy theme. It's all going to be done in SDL. I'm hoping I have have enough time to add in combos, powerup pickups and obstacles. I also hope to add in netplay but I haven't messed with sdl_net yet. I should probably make that a priority that way you aren't limited to local play only. Anyway, I plan on updating this thread often so make sure to check in on my progress.

Beer!

Here's what I've brainstormed in the last few minutes:

Behold! Ghetto map editor:

Now to change it over to use 16x16px tiles and make a tileset that doesn't look like atari garbage.

Top down, 2d, fantasy brawler? Such awesome ideas in this compo!

Might I suggest you check out Battle Fantasia? I've never played it, but it apparently had a pretty cool retraux-RPG aesthetic, but was a fighting game.

I'd suggest to have a playable mook-enemy as well, that'd be really fun. Perhaps a slime?
