update, now this wall/garden appears when the boss appears, and the white flowers stop going by after a few seconds.
The gun is shown in this screenshot (PoiPoi fires it of her own accord, it's out of the player's hands) also the boss attacks now by throwing mines and launching missiles (shown in the image too)

Love the game. Just played newest demo and it's very cool. I still think you could get some serious buck with this game, but if you want to give it away, that's your decision to make. I'm not complaining Wink.

Anyway I'd appreciate if someone would visit my game's devlog (link in description, just click the logo) and comment a bit.

everything i see in this game continues to blow me away i just wish i had your level of technical know how to make my own games as cool as this

EDIT: one last thing i forgot to ask but is there a new version of the demo that exists or are we waiting on the final product now?

y'know, this might be more work than I think it is, but a really neat effect that could work well for introducing the boss is having a ramp that launches Jack and Poipoi into the air, with the sun in focus for a glare effect, and then the boss moving into frame in front of the sun as a shadow.

Again, proooobably more complex than I assume, but it'd have a neat impact!

Holy flip, right when you said "ramp", I immediately pictured the rest.  That would be most swell if pulled off.

Man, I seriously can't wait to play this biker stage -- it's coming along so nicely.

That does sound like a cool idea, but I'm not really sure exactly what you mean with the description of the scene. Jack and PoiPoi are in the air, and the sun is in focus. So this is midday, and the sun would be above them, but the boss moves into frame in front of the sun as well? That's the part I can't really visualize/understand. Would the boss be flying as well?
Keep in mind in the context of this stage, they're catching up to the boss who passed them in the cutscene that starts the stage, so PoiPoi and Jack are driving to catch up to him, he appears off the left side of the stage currently when you reach him.

I made an image to help describe this easier.

So, in the first shot (upper left) they hit the ramp, and it sends them up into the air. jack and poipoi would not leave the screen area, but as they go up like in the top right frame, they would get darker as the sun comes into view. you could then change their view angle slightly as in goes into this shot below them. (which could be almost black sillouettes due to the lighting, saving time on actually redrawing a quarter rotation by focusing on sillouette)
As the shot reaches the apex, you would have another below shot of the boss character zoom into the screen, then hold slowly as it reaches the center of the sun, creating a glare effect. It would then zoom on ahead and off screen, leaving Jack and Poipoi behind as they decend back to the ground.
All in all, this is about... a 5-8 second shot? it frames the boss as badass, strong, and fast for a brief moment, but it's all that's needed to give the player a sense that this one is very different from the others they've faced. (Which I know you like doing in the in-between cutscenes, like the laser bird.)
