Apologies if you already answered this earlier in the thread, but have you considered allowing players to grab two of the same soul to make it even more powerful, a la Gunstar Heroes? I keep wanting to do that and ending up mildly disappointed when I can't. (I understand that adding even MORE weapons would be a lot of work, so it's totally cool if you have no plans to do this!)

No worries for asking. I have considered it, but right from the start, it was too hard for me to program that in, so I opted out of letting you double up. Maybe someday I can try again with it.

Hello! I just registered here to praise this charming game! I can't even recall how I recently discovered Jack the Reaper, but I lucked out! Everything about this game is just irresistible, from the sweet and nostalgic character designs to the wonderful upbeat soundtrack. If there was anything on my wishlist, I'd like to see Jack move while dodging. Perhaps it'll be a regained ability? Anyway, I look forward to the completion of Jack the Reaper! Best of luck!

I took some screenshots of something I did today, which was replaced all the deciduous trees with pine trees in places near mountains. Pine trees? Those are clearly spruce. Hurrmph.

I've been working on it for 4+ years already, I can't give up on it now. I've just been too busy with other freelance work and other life things that have been slowing down my work on the game.

I feel ya man, we've all got to pay the bills somehow, and sometimes you have to sacrifice passion for pennies; however as long as you don't let the project die, it should be all worth it, I guess. I wish I held onto some of my past games, however I'm kind of glad I ditched my old work, mainly because of the profile associated with it (too many post in Human Hugs back in highschool )

Working on fixing a lot of the graphics from the earlier stages. Why didnt I see how drab the environment was? I know someone mentioned darkening the fronts of the foreground, and Im finally taking that advice (sorry for taking so long to learn some sense) Also in the bottom screenshot, which I snapped later in the evening after working some more, shows the newer more detailed close grass background parts. I think it helps to contrast the foreground even more and differentiate the "touchable" grass from the background grass, especially in screenshots.

another graphical update, I think I finally got Eclipsus' sprites to look how I want them. I wasnt happy with how the hair looked before, and a main character's got to look good. (old version on the left, new on the right)

Thank you! I actually had to tone down how bright the shine on her hair was because it stood out too much. Also, redoing PoiPoi's sprites now with the same treatment: rounder face, more saturated shade on the dress and hair, blue shading on the eyes instead of yellow (looked bad before and it always bothered me)
