about two years ago i made a most-anticipated indie game poll:

http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=7081.0

the highest-voted in the poll were fez and the underside (neither of which has yet been released). rounding out the top six were pixel's upcoming rpg, brain-damaged toon underworld, love, and joe's game (super joe's game). of those, only love has been released, and at least two of those have been canceled.

i'd like to start a list of games to include in a sequel poll; so please name indie games you are looking forward to being released and after i get enough options i'll start a poll on it.

so far here are my ideas (this consists mainly of the games from that list which have neither been released nor canceled, and a few others)

-fez
-underside
-arcmagi
-saturated dreamers
-avaus
-velella
-subversion
-closure (remake)
-owlboy
-overgrowth
-another metroid 2 remake

games i don't know whether they were released or not or are still being worked on, so any info is appreciated:

-card saga wars
-barkley: shut up and jam: gaiden: episode 2
-bob's game
-mondo nation
-age of decadence
-indie game brawl
-genatos
-card saga wars
-marian
-minus world
-brain-damaged toon underworld

new additions:

-voxatron
-scoregasm
-koruruto no saji akuma
-the witness
-i want to f*ck barack obama
-journey
-dust: an elysian tale
-insanely twisted shadow planet

any other indie games that you're looking forward to that are not named above? i'm sure i missed a ton; i haven't been keeping up with indie game news much

games which are released but not yet finished (like desktop dungeons, dwarf fortress, or minecraft) do not count, because even though they aren't finished they are 'released'.

Journey is not an independent production.

Didn't TCG have a multi-title distribution deal with Sony before Journey started production?

the indie game legend will probably be released before the poll is even started, but i'll include it if it isn't

journey not being indie is a good point but it's not really my place to judge which games are indie or not (i also didn't think limbo was indie but it was included in the last poll). journey is covered in indie game blogs and indie game news sites (and not really covered in the mainstream games media), and thatgamecompany is at least a *former* indie game company even though their ip is entirely owned by sony, so unless there are huge objections i'll keep journey in the list

also even icycalm reviewed flower as 'an indie game'

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and knowing that The Underside will never be released makes me love it intensely.

But what if it wins?

Just imagine... the most anticipated indie game is not even an independent production.

What a negative statement that would be!

EDIT:

also even icycalm reviewed flower as 'an indie game'

Ya but fuck Icycalm right now. I don't think his standards should be used here at all. He's lumping all "artfag" games together as indie, but yet says Minecraft is not indie when in fact it's hardcore indie.

I get the impression that Cactus only finishes about 10% of the games he shwws screenshots of. I try not to get too excited about Cactus games until they're actually released.

i don't think it will win. the popularity of journey on these forums isn't as great as, say, the popularity of fez or the underside. this forum favors platformers above all other genres.

another issue is that journey is still being *made* like an indie game -- it's funded but has a small team and the team has complete creative freedom (sony tells them to make whatever they want).

It seems that being highly anticipated is a bit of curse for indie games. I wonder if the weight of expectation was a factor in these games taking so long/being canceled. Maybe it's a good thing that hardly anyone has heard of the game I'm making. Cheesy Although, I'd rather be making a highly anticipated game than one that nobody cares about.
