I honestly thought that World of Goo was accessible to everyone. I put it in front of some people who really don't play those sort of games and they were addicted to it from the off.

It's hard enough trying to pitch stuff low enough for the casual market without making it completely crap. What the hell are you supposed to do for iMarket that appears to be even worse? It beggars belief.

Perhaps the review system itself is partly to blame, for significantly lowering the requirements to leave feedback. Bought an app? Then you can leave a review, no additional signup or hoops. That means people who would never normally submit a review can do so in seconds.

Wish I could have gotten royalties on WoG... Even 1% of sales would have been nice.  Hand Money Left Well, hello there! Hand Money Right

I admit to being a bit of an elitist, but I think this is one of those cases where rather than dumbing games down to appeal to the people complaining about World of Goo being inaccessible, we simply have to say 'if you don't like this, it's not for you'.

Inclusivity is a wonderful thing to strive towards, but attempting to include every outlier in a single limited class only results in featureless goop and/or madness Smiley

I can't really think of someone that can find World of Goo difficult and still live a normal life  Giggle
what i hate about App Store it's that there's people for which having free games is not enough, looks like they can't even afford the stress of playing them.

Great article, it reminded me of Tommy Refenes rant about the App Store at GDC. It is fantastic how these guys are so open with their sales data.
