I agree with the numerical reviews thing.

A good review doesn't need them. The reader should be able to fully judge from the review, not just numbers. People are spoiled, they bitch and moan when they lose their precious x/10 or x/5 scores. Games for Windows Magazine (I can't remember their old name for the life of me. Cry) switched to this for a while, and the reviews were much better. People didn't like them messing with their numbers and started bitching about it to them. Eventually they switched back because the reader response was largely negative.
One quote from someone's letter stands out to me. "How am I suposed to know the game is any good now?" I DID THE BIGGEST FACEPALM I HAVE EVER DONE.

That prompted me to write a letter showing my support of the new system and condemning all of the idiots who could count but couldn't read. Alas, it was too late, and they switched back.

For most things, I totally agree with you there.  One exception I would make would be for hardware reviews, where a simple star system can be extremely helpful.

Then I will take away the numerical scores. I'll revise the Cave Story Review.
