Welcome to "Darby's Run", a cooperation between Inane and Lazycow... Darby, the rabbit from outer space accidently crashed his flying saucer into a really big, procedurally generated tree and fell to the ground. Can he reach his saucer again before he runs out of oxygen? download: darbysrun.zip (ca. 500k) V1.2: includes some bugfixes (playable on Windows and Linux!) screenshot gameplay

real art looks like the mona lisa or a halo poster and is about being old or having your wife die and sometimes the level goes in reverse

Looking good, guys.
Can we see some zoomed-in graphics?
(ie, actual gameplay :D)

I like platformers that scroll vertically instead of horizontally. Looking forward to it!

The background-graphics are not ready yet. (Inane: hint hint!) But I added a screenshot where you can see the hero running and jumping around.

The end is near... finally some background graphics made it in the game. (but some cool features won't - I do not have much time this last weekend) Time for a break, rabbits already run through my head while sleeping...

Hm, apples as platforms? That goes against everything I know about platforming. I thought apples were collectables :O

You live in the past, my friend. In the future, we'll be walking on oranges, driving on watermelons, and building our houses on tomatos. It's a new age.

This is going to sound really strange, but I had a dream about this game last night. It looked and played absolutely phenomenally - it was really quick and fluid and challenging and those falling apples were used in really interesting ways, the level design was clever as hell and it just looked gorgeous - like there were multiple parallax layers in the background of a sunset which got darker gradually as you made your way to the top, at which point you emerged into a night sky.
So... that's what you've got to live up to - good luck!

Unless you wanna be the guy. In which case...no; I don't even want to think about a tree-climbing game in that style...

You need to go play Chip n Dale for the NES. NAO. Also, Darby is cute as a button. My heart giggles when he jumps, oh yes it does <3
