the graphics and the atmosphere (sometimes: when it isn't busy indulging in awkward naked fairies or Lord of the Rings and is content to provide its own kind of atmosphere) are the only worthwhile things about the game, but even then that hardly justifies playing the game because I can get better atmosphere from a myriad of other places.

but it's still a game that's worth playing.
i'm going to chime in and say that no, it really, really is not. its status as a not-castlevania game has nothing to do with it.

also the narrative hilariously bad and it feels like all of the voice actors recognized how bad the writing was and just slept through their performances. robert carlyle, patrick stewart and jason isaacs especially.

LoS is a joke. I've barely kept playing it due to its predictable, derivative, cliched nature. And I'm not a Castlevania hothead at all.

Right now trying to play through first Fallout.

Beat most of Gears Of War with my cousin on Sunday. I guess I'll get back to failing miserably on my Hard run on Bayonetta. *mumbles*

Trying to finish Human Revolution. It's okay, but I kinda got tired of the stealthy approach. I wish the game actually allowed for some different strategy.

yeah, i was going for a no-alert, no-kill run in hard mode my first time through, but i got pissed off trying to figure out the pattern for that one spot where a bunch of guards stand in a circle and spread out through the area and used a grenade. from that point on, adam jensen was a bad ass motha fucka.

Yep, the game tells you to look for alternative solutions but most of the times I can't find all those alternatives :/

Other then Deus Ex, started Dead Island and Rock of Ages.

Finding Dead Island to be very fun, it's buggy and outdated but killing zombies in it is fun, specially with a car!

Rock of Ages is hilarious, the mix of tower defense and Super Monkey Ball works very well, finding it a little too hard though.

Really? I feel like using a smoke grenade here. Hmm, I think I'll avoid this fight and sneak around since I'm low on ammo. Hoo snaps I just got a laser rifle, let's try this thing out. The sniper approach might work better here. Let's see, OH! I could jump off of that building and try that ground pound stun out. I'm a running and gunning, typhoon attack!

Admittedly, I don't feel I'd play through it multiple times, but there's definitely some fun options in many of the situations.

And how could you not try hacking a turret bot and carrying it over to the next room? Or maybe a boss fight? C'MON

The problem is that the stealthy approach is rewarded way more. 10XP for a kill, 50XP for a stealthy takedown. 750XP for each objective you do unnoticed and without setting off alarms. No such rewards for other strategies. So while I'm tempted to hack a turret and bring it into a gunfight every now and then, I know that the game doesn't consider it the optimal choice and won't reward me for it.

Kirby's Epic Fail.

Doesn't really feel like a Kirby game but it's pretty good nonetheless. I like the idea of an easy game with optional challenge and playing for beads is surprisingly fun. Also the graphics are more creative/charming than Little Big Planet's imo.

Speaking of Wii games, anybody played Xenoblade Chronicles? I've heard it's really good. Even saw it named as the best jRPG of this generation.

I guess, I mean if you really want the breathe underwater augment that bad.

For what it's worth, I played like an idiot dropping garbage dumpsters on cops, and I had plenty of praxis points.

I think it goes beyond logical reasoning. My gamer brain loves getting those shiny points! Even if they are worthless. Rewards are a powerful tool like that.

@TeeGee: Best console JRPG without a doubt (tho the competition is less than stellar so...) The combat is super fun (think Final Fantasy XII but good) and there's
a deep character progression system. Also massively enjoying the openness of the game's world. Graphics are pretty nice. Individual models are rather low-poly but the draw distance (the largest I've seen in a Wii game) makes for some impressive vistas. Story is pretty standard JRPG fare but entertaining enough. I haven't played the previous Xeno games so idk how it compares ot ties in with them.

I haven't played any of the old Xeno games either, but the rest sounds exactly like what I've heard. Dammit! Just a few days ago I was holding it in my hands, but decided to go with Human Revolution in the end (which is still ok, but...).

I've found that it's very hard for me to get excited about a jRPG these days, even when I know it's good Sad.

I loved the first couple of Xenosaga games (wish they'd localise the DS versions), wish I had a Wii for XC.

Persona 4, VVVVVV (I'll get them all one day!), Siren 2, Chrono Trigger (well just bloody Lavos - I'll get you too, one of these days!), Resident Evil: GC Remake, Resonance of Fate.

Actually finishing more than I'm buying right now, which is a good thing!  Unfortunately there's a shitload on the horizon, so I need to work fast... (Dark Souls alone threatens to consume my world.)

Tell me about it. I got my hands on Digital Devil Saga and Persona 3: FES a whiel back, and I haven't even started on them. I might borrow my friend's Wii though for Xenoblade.
