if you meant precursors, i think you can pirate it safely. All devs died long ago.

Twilight Princess on GCN. Used to Wii version, so it's mildly confusing.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is awesome and all, but I could do without its "fun threshold" feature.

You know, that feature where the game realizes you're starting to make progress and relly get into the game and enjoy yourself and it has been a while since you saved or since the game last decided to mercifully auto-save and you just start to open your inventory to check out a cool new item you got or start a dialog after beating a difficult battle and then the game says "go fuck yourself, and thanks for the $60 purchase dipshit" and crashes on you. It is like BioWare wants you to enjoy yourself, but only to a point. Once you cross that threshold of enjoyment they will hit the breaks promptly remind you that giving you a properly working product was not their top priority.

It is pretty amusing that most restaurants will refund you or give you the meal for free if they serve you a meal that was not of acceptable quality but video game companies sell you a broken mess and then when you complain they just kind of look at you with a tilted head like a dog that doesn't understand what you want from it or they just shrug and go about their business. Even McDonald's will make good on bad product and they pretty much serve petrified roadkill (artificially-but-deliciously-flavored petrified roadkill, mind you).

That is why I stopped pre-ordering, it just encourages them to rush shit out the door and fix it later (becuse they already have your money). There really needs to be some class action lawsuits going on, the video game industry is one of the very few that actually get away with selling blatantly broken products without any real legal repercussions (and on that note, fuck you Bethesda).

90s kids dont care
they had to reinstall windiws and instal yamaha woodoo dx 4 just to run baldurs gate at 4 fps
seeking a disk of some game that had game-breaking bug fixed was a fine entertainment at the day.

why would you ever preorder a gam?

i dont get it. maybe in the US new games are always sold out but in my country i can just walk into a store on release day and get the gam including special editions and all that shit, sometimes even earlier because some stores break the street date. i used to do that a lot when i still bought new games. these days i can't justify dropping 50-60 euros on a game except when im mega hyped for it and know im going to play it a lot.

I know here, there were a couple of games that sold out completely and you had to wait for back orders. A lot of the game stores let you pre-order your game so that you were sure to get a copy. My guess is that in light of that developers realized it was fertile ground for exploitation and slowly but surely more games released pre-order bullshit. It goes hand in hand with the whole "collector's edition" nonsense.

Contradicting myself, though, I did pre-order and get the collector's edition (of sorts) of Dark Souls which was the same price as the regular game when I got it and came with a pretty cool tin that I still put to use as a keepsake box. So I suppose there is some merit to it all despite its exploitative nature (though I haven't pre-ordered a game since).

Sometimes publishers offer a dum reward for preordering like "get this DLC for free" to make people buy in before the reviews are available. Also, some services like Steam allow you to preload the game so you can launch it immediately when it's released.

I still think it's really bad though and I wish nobody preordered anything, because it only encourages companies to sell shitty games.

yeh i've never felt enticed to preorder a game because of a preorder bonus and have personally never done it.

ok i preordered europa universalis 4 and dark souls 1 on steam a day before release. but in the first case i already knew i was going to like the game and play it a lot (as mentioned above) and in the other case i already knew the game from another platform. Tongue
