Yep. Except they weren't pixelled over. (Barring some touch-up? I'm not 100% sure there wasn't. It's been a while.) Just pre-rendered. Like DKC but not shit.

Sexy and about the most "Deus Ex" a game could get as a AAA title in this day and age. Definitely a worthy successor.

My copy came early so I've been playing it a couple days already. It's great. It's more a [conventional crossplatform shooter] set in the Deus Ex world (although after a while it's starting to feel more like Metal Gear Solid), but it does what it does really well and has lots of those little things like dicking around for an hour breaking into your co-workers' offices so you can read their email. Worthy of the name for sure.

So it's basically Mass Effect Alpha Protocol? Sounds kinda lame tbh.

AP gets trendy kneejerk flak so I don't want to discourage anyone by saying this but yeah I guess you could say it's like Alpha Protocol if Alpha Protocol fully achieved what it was trying to do, plus a bunch of Deus Ex stuff. It's pretty excellent.

idk the previews kinda made it look like it might be a notch above all those other dumbed down linear shooters masquerading as nonlinear rpgs that have come out in recent years

Uh, it is. What the shit do you want me to say? It's a good game, and like Tanner said, as close to Deus Ex as a AAA title would be allowed to get.
Gotta say I'm feeling kinda insulted by you dissing my tastes after I was just trying to reassure you that it was good so you wouldn't skip a great game needlessly.

Not dissing your tastes at all, what I meant is it doesn't sound like a game I would like because I already disliked Mass Effect and Alpha Protocol. I'm sorry my language was so harsh, I'm in a bad mood today (got woken up early by construction site noise).

Yeah sorry I should've phrased that differently, I didn't mean to say you were doing that deliberately.
What is it about those two games you don't like? Because in terms of level design, it's quite Deus Exy, with lots of multiple routes and multiple solutions for stuff, and story consequences for how you handle things. It looks like a linear shooter, but it isn't.

I loved Mass Effect AND Alpha Protocol so it looks like I'll be getting Deus Ex 3 as soon as I have more than no money.
Atm I'm playing through Enslaved: Oddysey to the West on hard mode, which isn't as bad as expected because it turns out I still have all the upgrades I got when I played through on Normal.
